Geeze, I had a copy of Dragon Naturally Speaking 6 years ago that worked better than that out of the box! Hell, IBM's voice dictation software that shipped with OS/2 Warp 4 was better than that!

Well, I dont know what I expected, this is the same company that released Windows ME, after all... ;)
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

Vista Beta 2 has this built in, I'll have to get a mic and try it now, haha.

I find it hard to believe they would demo something that dodgy. I imagine the guy giving the presentation didn't bother to train it up properly.

Ok, I'll pretend you didn't happen.

...oh wait...

Ahem... anyway, on a slightly related topic, I remember one time when using the demo of Voice Commander 2.0 (I think it was called that), I had it set up for DoD to excute the in-game voice commands using my voice. However, whenever I breath into the mic, the program kept doing the "sniper!" command so it got pretty annoying whenever that happened a lot.

The improvements from beta 2 to build 5472 are pretty big. About 500 megs of stuff has been removed from it (mostly debugging code I'd imagine). The UI is a lot snappier too.

That's exactly why I find it very hard to believe that it was a legitimate problem with the software (and not hardware or configuration). That and the fact that all the other demonstrators last year worked fine.
