[QUOTE=Dj Yoshi]"Anyone who clings to the historically untrue — and thoroughly immoral — doctrine that "violence never solves anything" I would advise to conjure up the ghosts of Napoleon Bonaparte and of the Duke of Wellington and let them debate it. The ghost of Hitler could referee, and the jury might well be the Dodo, the Great Auk, and the Passenger Pigeon. Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedoms."

Sure violence can perhaps tamper a problem, but it will eventually lead to more of it.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Gold, welcome to the real world. All that hippy crap about loving your fellow man, "don't use violence", etc, is just that; a load of crap. And the Middle East has been a war-torn region for more than just "a couple hundred years". You think they're just going to drop their guns and throw Taliban Woodstock?

Join the rest of the world, stop *****ing about violence and wars and other things that are *way* beyond your control, and just accept that in real life, **** HAPPENS. Deal with it.

spe wins, explosives rock.

But to be honest, I have to thank you for this thread. Got me thinking. It's interesting that now most everyone understands that if things go the way they're going we're pretty much going to destroy our civilization and our planet to boost. Yet, noone really acts. Why? Democracy more or less works.

Children in Africa? Nobody really cares, because children in Africa don't have access to internet. And more so because children in Africa don't make world politics.

Does democracy work? I think it does. On a level that's beneficial for us as individuals, I suppose. But only short-term. On a more global level, it makes us forget about the bigger picture. We're fooling ourselves that our purpose here is to make more money and provide good conditions for us and our descendants.

Can we change the world? I think we can. The fact that we're growing to accept that whatever's on the news is on the news, is something that is beyond our control and doesn't really affect our immediate lives and surroundings is pretty sad if you ask me.

We are the youth. We shape the world. We just don't want to know or understand that.

It's the same thing with environmental pollution. Nobody wants to destroy the environment, but we're collectively responsible for it happening anyway.

They do, but the citizens of Texas are probably more heavily armed and better trained then they are.

Any emotional reaction to a chain letter means that you loose. It's like being angry because a 4 year old told you that you were stupid.

That's up for debate. Reaction to hype usually hurts more than it helps. I won't argue that everything is going to pot, but, it has been for the last four thousand years. People are jerks. It's almost reassuring.

fact of the matter is, we invaded iraq..

Gold, Iraq is a mess, and other countries hate us because we've had a foreign policy of "F@*% you!" I highly doubt that every country in the world is going to up and decide to attack us.

Also remember the part we played in Iraq being a disaster. It's not like we're totally blameless little angels of mercy who decended upon Iraq and magically distributed freedom peace and democracy for all. Look at it from both sides.

Point being, the media has always been stupid, and if you want to survive the world with some semblance of sanity, get used to it.
