Here's a clue: the door and the little sign on it is a big hint, and the city that this place is in has already been mentioned somewhere on this thread

No (wrong city, and it's a specific PLACE in a city, not the city itself)

coincidentally I WAS in boston AND chicago in the past week, and new york 2 wks ago.

Pommy, I tried to read the sign on the door. The second word appears to be "College" but I still can't make out the others. The crest isn't familiar to me at all.

I thought the second word was "gallery". I've been googling east coast colleges trying to find that crest somewhere, but no luck yet. :p

I'll just post a new one. I'm having trouble finding my own pics, so I just took a pic from the internet.

I once spent the night in the thing you see here. Who knows where or what it is?

It may look like a vague pic, but anyone who knows it, will recognize it immediately. Oh, and the weather conditions on this pic are quite realistic in the early morning.

The crest is actually misleading because it's the crest of that particular college house, not of the university itself

Here's more of a hint: the door sign reads "Riepe College House"
..and I just gave it away

They actually have a tshirt that says "NOT PENN STATE" haha

It's obviously the Loch Ness monster, which had eaten our dear JoS, then decided clogs taste like wood (and he still had enough toothpicks left) so he spit him out again.
