I'm trying to find some fairly hi-res road textures (256x256 or higher) of various types. I've looked everywhere I can think of, but found nothing good and/or free. (Paying for textures is dumb, imo.)

you can easily make your own if you have photoshop or psp.

Just use a noise filter and then add a semi-transparent lellow strip down the middle of it and you have road...

Use Gimp if you have nothing else.

it is incredibly easy with photoshop.

I don't suggest using noise though. The Artistic>Film Grain (or sponge) filter give some bigger patches and just looks much better for this kind of thing, also there is more to configure so you can get it to look just how you like it
