Wrong phone software flashed?

How the hell does someone even do this.

I have a Sony Ericsson W600i, neat little gizmo. Love the mp3 player part of it to death, and the camera is real nice too.

But I can't use any of the internet features or buy games for it. Why? Because some idiot at the plant flashed the wrong phone software, software for a k700 onto it.

Not a big deal, it still plays music.

However, does anyone know how to fix it? :P

If you can't that isn't a big deal.

The W810i just came out and has twice the memory, that and it has hot swapable flash cards, maximum size one gigabyte. (More than enough for mp3s, which is sadly all I can play on this. But it was afterall fee.)

I'll probably turn in the rebate on this, and use it towards getting the w800i off of e-bay and then sell the brokek w600i for cheap. Like I said, the only thing it doesn't do is the internet and instant messenger stuff. :P

Flash it with the correct phone software? Though I don't know if you can get it freely.
Sorry for the lousy German

Turns out I can't find it anywhere...

And I'd need to do alot of soldering on the usb cable that came with the phone, so that I would be able to read that part of the phone's memory.

SCREW that. I'd rather just sell the thing for $100.

I have the K800i, the camera phone version of that mp3 playing phone, love it to death also.

Cant imagine that being a problem you can fix short of sending it back to the factory.

Yeah, just take it back to the shop you bought it from. They'll sort it.

You probably don't even have to go to the store you bought it from. Go to a store that sells that brand, and tell them what happened. Assuming they're not @55hats, they should flash the software for you.

Can't get it done, I called earlier today.

They don't MAKE that model of phone anymore.

But what I found out is I can get a K810i online for about $300. I have $200 in rebates for this phone imbound. Also, I can sell this phone for about $75 buy it now.

And as far as I know, I can pay to have any phone covered by cingular's replacement plan. If I can't, I'll go in there and haggle with them. :P

Arrrgh! Think I just broke my K800i :(

Plugged it into my PC to transfer a few files accross for the nth time, for no reason it got all upset and threw a bunch of error messages at me. Now the screen flickers when it's not doing anything. It's fine when it's thinking or even if I set a gif as the wallpaper, but it flickers any time it's idle. Strange and annoying. Now I'll probably be without it for a week while they send it back to the factory

Get them to give you a tempory phone.

If your plan came with a free phone, and you opted out you can usually still get it.

If you have the any time replace a phone insurance, just find a store that has one in stick and trade it in for a new one. :P

Bah, my phone company sucks. They said it would have to go to the repair shop, which can take 7-14 days. So I ended up taking the phone to the repair place myself and I should have it back in 5 which is apparently how long it takes to flash the software. No replacement no nothing :(

Keep putting my hand in my pocket and thinking 'oh crap have I lost my phone?'.
