I will be buying a LCD HDTV soon, 32-37in range. I'm trying to research them (as I do for any purchase over 500 bucks) to learn what I need to know to make the best choice for my money. So far the only thing I know is a few different brands have better pictures. I would like to stay in the mainstream names (phillips, sony, lg, westinghouse, sharp, rca, maybe even ilo) while staying in or around $1,000. The main purpose of this TV will be DVDs and Console gaming.

Any advice on technical specs?

Hey, I'm in the same boat right now. As soon as I pay off my credit card here at the end of the month, I'll be in the market for an LCD TV as well. I've taken a look at Newegg and they seem to have several for a fair price.

yeah but im not in the mood to ship a $1000 TV... i work for UPS i know what happens to packages and its not pretty.
