I'm not exactly what you'd call a good patriot, haha. I suppose there are always aspects of your own country and culture that you like... I do like certain things about the Netherlands. And it's not bad to live here.... so I voted yes. But it's getting worse in some ways though, and in general I really hate the mentality of the people here. I've been seriously thinking about leaving the country, one day. Although it'll not be in the near future.

As long as it leaves me alone, my country will suit me just fine.

Not really. Bunch of self centered emotional idiots, it seems.

I love my country because I can openly and loudly declare that I hate my country, and that is truly a measure of the quality of a government.

Yes. Though, my political standing tends not to agree with either of the popular mindsets, I still think it has the potential to be what it once was.

Yea, I like my country.

I don't like many of the things included in it, though.

There's a lot I hate about my country. This probably outweighs the good.

My country is just a body of people with borders and a name attached. I like some of the people, and I don't like other ones. But America's kind of an abstraction you dig

Aye. I like my country. It's the same as Burgerfinn's country, minus the burgers.

Legal softdrugs, low drinking age, legal gay marriage, legal abortion, actual freedom of speech, plus the coolest language in the world. How can one not like my country?

As far as I know, we are the only country in the world that swears with illness and disease. We actually swear with anything we can come up with.

They say it's the rudest form of swearing in the world. Swearing in English is extremely harmless compared to the stuff we're throwing out here. For some people it's actually a hobby to make as many (original) combinations of horrible things as they can in one sentence. You can be really creative. In addition to that, some sounds in the Dutch language are very harsh, and often used in these words to underline the rudeness with aggressive sounding vowels. For example, we make a very harsh kind of 'G' that is pretty unique. It pretty much sounds like you're trying to clear your throat as obnoxiously as possible. :v: Only Arabs can come close to making that same sound.

I'd give examples but it would probably be very shocking to most of you, and I'm not looking for a ban. :ninja:

I have this friend from Manchester... he was in tears from laughter as I was trying to translate the swearing I was doing into English. He found it so hilarious that he was thinking about actually trying to say those things to people back home in England. But he said it would be so beyond rude that people probably just wouldn't know what to say or think.
