Need a new car!

So, i was at the mechanics this morning (in the family van) and he basically said "Don't drive this car anymore. Try to get a new one in the next few weeks"

Apparently the engine is foobard. (No i dont know the details, and I dont know whats broken)

Anyway-

We're looking for a new car now. Not a van. We want something thats 4 doors and kind of sporty. Almost like a family car that doesnt feel like a family car i guess.

The only one we've looked at so far is the Toyota Camry. Any other suggestions?

99 Ford Taurus :ninja: . I love mine. I haven't had a single problem yet *knocks on wood*. It's comfortable, it can fit 4 people fine, even with the seats set all the way back. 6 CD changer, etc etc etc...It's a nice car. Either that or a Honda. Hondas will last you a lifetime.
Think while it's still legal.

A new or used Camry is a very good choice for a fuel-efficient family car.

My parents are looking for a new car and after a lot of research and test-driving, that's what they've settled on as well.

Pontiacs are a good way to go. Doesn't really matter which one you get though, they all look the same :|

Hmm... 4 doors and a little sporty.

Honda Accord Euro? Mazda 6 MPS? Subaru Legacy? BMW 3 or 5 series?

How much are you looking to spend? Camrys are good if you're after something cheap and reliable, but personally I wouldnt deem even the Sportivo 'sporty'.

Mechanic: Ah, see here, this is your problem. Your backwards compatable pre-regulation solid fuel recoil booster preloaded with nitrous oxide fuel crossed beams with the reionized deionization matrix core, causing a premature remodulation. That'll cost you seven hundred dollars.

That doesn't even make sense grammatically.

Your [glork] preloaded with [sklerm] with the [kojo], causing a [bymt].

We're looking for something more along the lines of the Camry or Mazda, not a sports car or some fancy 2 door muscle car. And no SUVs!

Get a Honda HR-V.

Honda's version of the camry would be the Accord. And it's pretty sporty looking, too. Especially the station wagon type-S.

I'm going to let you in on a little known secret. In some cities, a particular repo/tow service may have a contract with the city. When they repo vehicles under this contract, they are sometimes given the option to take the contracted amount (ussually around $200) to tow the vehicle to an impound OR to take the title to the car. Now, these types of situation are ussually the result of a drug bust (for trafficing) where the trafficer looses title of the vehicle to the city. In some of these cases, the trafficer has a nice enough car that the repo/tow service believes they might be able to get more out of it by selling it. However, typically, they don't have a used car sales license so they are limited on how many they can legally sale per year (in my state, it's 5). The result, is a small lot of very nice newer model family size cars that you might be able to take of their hands for around $500 or so.

Just something to consider.

I'd recommend a Mazda 6 over an Accord.

Oh yeah, but not all of us can afford to pay for it ;)

I've got that car I posted further up the page - it cost me £6500, and the insurance is about £600 a year. That's all I can afford, and I got a lot of pace for my price :D
