Pranking = illegal?

This is interesting.

http://shii.wordpress.com/2006/07/26/******-now-illegal-in-the-united-states/

The gist of it being that it is now illegal (In the USA) to prank someone into viewing certain 'exquisite interest' sites against their will. 10 years max imprisonment.

Wow. Thoughts?

...yeah, this sounds completely retarded.

I'm willing to believe some higher up guy on the lawmaker chain got suckered into it and therefore has stopped it. Although you know nobody will stop.

What if I'm connected to a US server through a Eurasian proxy? :v:

Doesn't seem like a big deal. I doubt this piece of legislation will change much. Porn sites are required to warn sites of their content ("are you 18 or older?") so too bad if they can't put crap in non-porn sites. And how can you enforce normal sites to follow this?

Funny how the author mentions g***** right away.

I agree with Jep. If this is illegal, popups should be just as.

"No more than 20 years"

Most likely no one is going to get anywhere near that...

And I don't see why pop-ups should be taken out...seeing that they help pay for the server.

Also, can we get a better source than this? I don't like blogs.

I'm glad that we've solved other issues like murder, rape, robbery, global warming, alternate energy, world crises, etc., so that we can focus on this.

I had some trouble tracking down a reputable source for this, actually, but it's for real.

I don't mind what Congress does, as long as they don't do it in the streets and frighten the horses.

So sending someone a link to ... ******, lets say, is the equivalent of stealing their car or raping them?

I could buy that.

It's probably advertising passed off as a "prank". There are plenty of people who don't want to see it, and plenty more who don't want to be caught seeing it unawares. All I have to say is owned. Hopefully next, anyone connected with adware in anyway will be roasted slowly over an open fire.

Not a bad law at all in my opinion. This should root all those trolls who thrive on pranks like these.

Stupid law.

If you don't like being pranked, don't be an idiot.

Is this the same Shii that was permabanned on SA for being a paedophiliac? (the linked site)
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.
