First, the reptile. I was moving some wood around in our woodpile when I came upon this guy:
Just a common garter snake; probably about 50 cm long. My dog was afraid of it, whereas my one cat wanted to be its friend. It smelled bad.
And next we have the amphibian:
Not entirely sure what kind of salamander this is, but he was found in some old hay at the barn; nowhere near water, which I thought was unusual. His tail was covered in mud for some reason.
My original plan was to put them in a cage together and have an epic duel to the death, but unfortunately this never happened. Mostly because I had released the snake before I found the salamander.
