I need your help on 3D applications...

I find my self in a problem where blender cannot help me unfortunately. I'm trying to export my 3d models as .3ds for a game engine. All is fine, except the texture informations is lost when exporting to this format. The engine also supports .x and .b3d, .x gives me the same result and blender doesn't support .b3d yet. So I have come back to massassi asking for help. I need a 3d application (not milkshape or 3ds max) where I can import the .3ds file and retexture the model and then either:

A)export the final product to .b3d with all texture information.
or
B)save the final product as .3ds with all texture information.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. The models are loading, but they have no textures on them, at best, only rgb colors are set but this is a material thing of blender, not a texture of a static image.

How long are your textures' filenames?

Well its named: tut_woodbox.jpg which is 15 characters in a total. All I need is something to retexture my models with and when I save/export them the textures will export with them.

Your texture names MUST be under 6 characters, I believe. It might be 8. If they're over that, the .3DS cuts off the rest, and then it can't find the texture named tut_wo.jpg

Subsequently, I don't know if the extension counts for the parsing, either. I'd try a single or at most, a 3 character name.

If that doesn't work (Please try EVERYTHING to make it work before) come back and I'll try something else that is very unlikely the problem.

It didn't work :( I'm going to try something that I know should work, if it does, then I'll know exactly what the problem will be, and I won't like what will happen then.

Ok nevermind, I fixed the error and it was totally unrelated with the texture file name. Apparently blender can't export to .3ds without losing th UV coordinates. So I exported to .obj and then converted to .b3d with a 3rd party application which also assign the correct textures with the correct UV placement. Works. Thanks!
