I kind of wonder how badly population growth would spike in africa if a cure for aids was actually developed.

As morbid as it may be, I don't dislike diseases, plagues, etc.

They keep life in balance.
2006-08-14, 1:57 PM #5
That was more like an attempt at morbid.

Because you wish to be as cool and morbid as spe and myself.

So when you get a disease, do you think to yourself, "I'm helping with the natural role of nature!"

Medicines are a menace. Blasted things ruining the balance of life.

There should be a test that keeps stupid people away from medicine.

Oh, and they should cut the hands off of doctors that prescribe anti-biotics for everything.

Oh yes, Echoman. Your post made me realize that I want to kill myself because I don't believe that diseases are bad.

Please do

But don't donate any organs when you die. That would go against the human race.

Every time a disease is cured a new, worse, major one pops up in a couple decades. AIDS and and Alzheimers went from being extremely rare and unheard of to major international pandemics within 30 years of the Poilio and Small Pox vaccines. Influenza comes back again and again no matter what.

-It really is the natural order of things. Cure a disease, another comes along.

I thought you had the comprehension to understand my point of view. Obviously, this isn't the case.

In case of events that the secular world were to be without plauges, diseases, cancers, or other causes for a natural death, things would get out of hand. I'm not talking about Malthusism, as that is a topic used hundreds of years ago in the same anticipation in which it is used today, with no consequence. Death needs purge every once in a while. This is one way to do it. Just like baby boomers born after a major war, a disease is there to collect to balance life out. Jarl is right too. We do get more diseases, but with each overcoming, the human body gains from it a strength. If there was no powerful obstacles to overcome, life will be stagnat.
Eternal I rise impalpable out of the land and the bottomless sea,
Upward to heaven, whence, vaguely form'd, altogether changed, and yet the same,
I descend to lave the drouths, atomies, dust-layers of the globe,
And all that in them without me were seeds only, latent, unborn;
And forever, by day and night, I give back life to my own origin, and make pure and beautify it;
[EDIT:] I want to edit my post for clarifications when I get home from work.

Don't worry Anovis. Humans will be their own population checks soon. With all the strife and conflict in this world, I wouldn't be surprised if we go back down to just 6B people within 10 years.

So what Mr Gates is saying is that all we need is some kind of medicine that prevents the HI virus to infect someone?

/me slaps his forehead

Why didn't they think of this before?!?!?! That is the great solution we were looking for all the time!!!!! All hail Bill for this great idea!

In other news, George Bush was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for finding out that the solution to all problems in the Middle East is to stop people from killing each other.
Sorry for the lousy German

This is a conflict of survival instincts. Of course, we want to keep ourselves alive as our natural preservation instinct, which is mainly for the furtherment of the human race. Inadvertantly, however, if everyone was alive forever, you'd starve then kill the human race. So nature has to intervene and kill us off with something, because our society could never stomach killing people "in the name of the furtherment of the human race", as ironic as it seems.

Kinda ironic how AIDS is quite common among homosexual men yet the prevention involves WOMEN, eh?
The cake is a lie... THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!!!

Perhaps not as common as you think.

I wonder if that cream stuff works in butts.
2006-08-14, 8:32 PM #18
I imagine whatever this jelly is you could just squrit it all up your gay lover's ******* and it'd work just as well.

Unless of course the chemical compound of poo somehow negates the aids prevental.

Wow. Just wow.

The biggest step in preventing AIDS is Africa, and has nothing to do with gay sex and everything to do with wild, rampant unprotected sex period.

In our country, the highest percentage of people with aids are homosexual black men.

I honestly don't really care that much about africa. It's not like I'm going to go down there poking my junk into random people.

Because, you know, millions of other peoples' lives are worthless. Not to mention, it's not like they could come over here and infect our people, or infect others who come over and have sex over here or anything.

Hurr.

But he is speaking truth though. AIDS is very prevalent in homosexual men for said reason, no protection.

I'm sure they all have ready access to airplanes, and are going to line up at my door to bang me into being sick.

Hey, that might be the new terrorist thing. Why blow up people, when they could kill an untold amount of people with aids infected prostitutes?

Nihilist attitude.

They aren't helping, benefiting, or affecting me. So I really couldn't give a **** about their plight.

Seriously, watch them solve aids epidemic in Africa. 30 years later there will be a population overgrowth. And then they'll want more of my tax money, and more charity.

I'm not saying I disagree, to an extent, but I do care that the people are dying. That's the difference.

My emo-esque stance on the Africa situation is already documented.
In short, I like anything that prevents the deaths of millions of people. Could this lead to problems in the future? Of course. Lots.
