Ever been in one of these online games where some guy is throwing an absolute fit? I was playing a game of alliance battles in Guild Wars Factions and this one guy on my team was going nuts.

"YOU ****ING ******S SUCK! YOU GUYS ARE ****ING ******S! THIS IS WHY I'M LEAVING THE GAME!"

Wow... anger management problems, no? Anyway, I usually just keep quiet doing times like this and just focused on the game but this time I decided that "This guy obviously isn't going to be pleased by anything I say so I might as well have fun with this guy and mock him :)" So I started saying stuff like "QQ" and "Cry cry cry" and he was like "YOU SAID SHUT THE **** UP!" and "I'LL CRY ON YOUR ****ING MOM!" and I replied with "Oh so witty!" The game was was coming to a close with our team losing so I just went AFK and waited for it to end.

Anyway, anyone else do this to others, even though you know it feels wrong? Maybe people like him are just kids going through purperty and having mood swings but still, people need to learn to calm down and realize that a game is meant to have fun. If you're not having fun, just turn the game off. Not that hard to figure out.

A long time ago I was playing Digital Paintball (half life mod) on a french server, and some 10yr old got on, started *****ing at the french players to speak english. The frenchies just kept going on in french until I finally got fed up with the kid and told him to piss off. Never really came across someone just blowing their lid.

It feels very right to me. :D Sometimes it's better than the game. Hopefully one of these days, those people will look back on the fact that no one took their anger seriously, and stop. Probably around the same time pigs fly, unfortunately.

I like to tell little kids with high pitched pre-pubescent voices to STFU. That's the only time I really get aggravated in games.

I've been thinking about checking out Guild Wars..is it worth buying regular since it's only like $20 now?
I had a blog. It sucked.

Last time I checked, the first game is still $40 and Factions is about $40 as well. Each game is stand alone so you don't need to buy the first one (called prophecies) to play the second one (Factions) but you'll get a lot more content if you do get both of them and combine them. Nightfall (the next one) is set to come out sometime in the fall (I'm guessing October since each game is being released every 6 months).

It always makes me really sad and uncomfortable when people start to freak out like that.

Fortunately, I always play on awesome servers and rarely encounter people trouble beyond one or two team killers.

Funny. I actually found something called a Cloudsong in EQ2 today. Made me think of that immediately.

My very first time playing WoW.
I was grouped with a friend, and a third guy came along who was the same race/class as my team mate.
Without realizing it, I started beating up on the newcomers target.
He immediately starts whispering me a huge list of profanities mixed with the words kill stealer.
I responded with "1 I thought you were my friend, 2 You can't kill steal in WoW you got full xp for that and 3 calm down"
He responded with more profanities (and only profanities, because of the filter all I saw was censored words)
I responded with "lol, how embarrasing for you"
After that I got swear flooded until I ignored him

I play on a Counter-strike 1.6 server where most of the guys have a sense of humour. We often pull stunts that involve TKs anyway so it's quite laid back.
As an example, we have a punishment system that allows you to choose from a menu a list of punishments for your TKer. So if you're on the Terrorist team with the bomb planted, one guy might kill two of his own team mates and stand over the bomb. If both choose the punishment of burying him to his waist he gets sunk just under the ground, still carrying a knife. That confuses the heck out of CTs trying to defuse! :D
People hacking and hurling aggressive insults tend to get banned very fast although we do have a problem with randoms becoming suddenly abusive and using sexual insults upon learning that some of our regulars are girls.

I see lots of that in Battlefield 2 servers.

"YOU ****ERS LEFT WIHOUT ME. NOW I HAVE TO RUN!"

"****ING WHORE WITH HIS TANK. NO SKILZLZZZZ I ****ING HATE THIS GAME!!!"

"GODDAMN ARTILLERY" NO ****ING SKILL **** YOU ALL I HATE THIS GAME I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!

I just stopped playing Counterstrike altogether because of **** like that. Too many isntances of hacks and other bull**** that admins won't counter.

Well considering it requires 3 people working together (on a public server) to pull something like that and that the admin will probably kick you if you try it a second time it doesn't happen often at all. I think you'd probably hate these guys too then: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7237451453430573504

I have seen people get in arguments in the multiplayer FPS's that I have played over the years, but they have never gone into a huge fit.

Counter-Strike in vents (on google video) is a pretty funny example of an actual fit.

DarkJediBob, are you referring to 1.6 or Source? I play Source regularly and rarely have instances of hacks and bs.

Yeah, doesn't surprise me.

Yet CS players being sucky was news around 2001 or so :P

I get mad whenever I play a multiplayer game full of bastard spastic children.

I guess thats why I don't play it much anymore.

Natural Selection (at least pre-2.0) could get pretty bad. Like getting a commander who obviously had no clue what he was doing barking orders to everyone and setting up random bases in the middle of nowhere. Or having ten people go Gorge, and trying to explain to the bulk of them that they're hurting the team. And then there's the abuse you were guaranteed to take for using the carbonite gun in MotS.

1.6. I stopped playing the HL series entirely, never felt the urge to go drop money on Source.

that is why i like FFXI, no voice chat at all, and most pre pubescent people that go on a rant like that get blacklisted by everyone in range, then more people when someone posts about the incident on a forum.

I don't play online at all for the exact reason of avoiding people like that. I'll only play private games with people I know.

Hmm... that does make me kind of worried about joining a Faction/Guild in GW. XD Fun game otherwise though.

I've never had to deal with people who were getting consumed by their own rage. I did encounter pretty angry people though. =D Such as people who stubbornly refuse to participate in teamwork in Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. And then take their anger out on anyone who tries to (however gently) convince them otherwise. At that point it's best to just let the scoreboard do the talking. =D

i was playing galaxies one night. i walked up to a spaceport and asked a couple of guys standing there a question about hunting on the planet. the one guy replied, '**** off newb!' so i spammed him with tells with things like, 'my mom is letting play really late tonight. when do you have to log out?' and 'i saved all my money to buy this game and my mom said she would pay for the subscription.'
he appologized about 5 minutes later and i stopped.
