I'm pretty sure this is my first "Massassi, I need your help!" thread.

Every time I get my hands on a new set of headphones, they are ruined within a month or two because the wiring inside gets wonky. One side will just stop working, and I've finally became so fed up with them, that I've decided to get wireless headphones.

I've come to you, Masssassi, to suggest to me top quality (But not TOO expensive) wireless headphones, most preferably using AAA batteries. Or, to suggest very durable normal headphones that won't get broken as easily as most others.

Thanks in advance. :)

EDIT: I don't know if it's possible, but I'd like them to be able to be used by my portable MP3 player.

don't wrap them around stuff, i've found that kills wired ones the most.

i don't have any wireless suggestions :/

Instead of wasting money on the wireless feature of headphones, I think you should just stick with a pair of decent conventional headphones. The wiring on quality headphones is infinitely better, and if you buy a reputable brand (sennheiser, grado etc) they will almost always fix the cans free of charge if an issue arises. My last pair of Sennheisers lasted 3+ years before the wiring gave out, and I had like you gone through a pair of 20$ headphones each month prior to buying Sennheiser. You end up forking over a bit more cash than cheap sony/panasonic headphones, but you get some headphones that last longer and have far superior sound quality.

I suggest reading up at head-fi or another headphone-specific forum, I'm not familiar with the current best buys in the audio department. Emon can probably help you out alot more than I can.

Also, in general you would want different headphones for say your computer/home audio and stereo equipment/portable mp3 player. Typically I use headphones at home and earbuds for my portable. Headphones also use significantly more power than earbuds, so you might not get the volume you want out of decent headphones. I don't really think wireless headphones would be practical for portable use either.

I personally use a pair of these.

But those might very well be out of your price range. One thing I will recommend is to make sure you buy headphones with a detachable cable. This will help protect your headphones, and allow you to simply buy another cable if the one you currently have dies.

As for wireless, just don't do it. You will end up paying allot more for headphones that don't sound as good and are much much more likely to fail. But a good set of studio headphones with a long cable (by long, I mean 8 feet or so) and you are good to go.

I bought a new pair of headphones last night, went for a slightly more expensive brand because recently, as Connection mentioned, I've been forking out $20 every month or two for a new pair of el-cheapo Sony.

I dont mind 'em, they have good bass for buds and are pretty comfortable, but the packaging they came in was a freaking nightmare! Completely sealed in plastic, it took me a good 25 minutes with a pair of scissors and a knife to finally liberate them! It was seriously frustrating, and small electronic objects with thin wires arent exactly the kind of thing you really want to be using brute force and a pair of scissors around...

Wireless headphones suck unless you're willing to spend 150+ on them.

Get shure e2c's or etymotic er-6i's--their IEMs that, while not much more durable than their other counterparts in build quality, inherently don't see as much wear and tear and use and abuse as regular headphones do. I had my E2c's for a good 7 months and used them constantly--they never had a problem compared to all the other headphones I used that have gotten f***ed.

give us a price range... and then we shall start from there...

until then i'll suggest the most expensive headphones i can think of at the moment... sennheiser orpheus system (~$10K last time i checked)

i will never suggest wireless just so you know...

I use these.

So far they've lasted me almost a year with no disernable indications of failure.

It also helps that I nearly never leave the house with them.

Bah, hate my new headphones now. Anyone recommend a good pair of mid-range buds?

Has to be buds because I work in an office environment so I dont want to annoy the people sitting next to me, they're a little more discreet for client tours, and also sometimes I can only listen with one ear.

as far as buds... can't go wrong with sennheiser MX400/500 (only difference between the 400 and 500 is the 500 has an inline volume control)

they are the best buds in their price range

In Physics in 11th grade, we made headphones out of tunafish cans. It's really cheap, why don't you do that?

buds: shure e2c's!!!! wish they had a japanese-like short cord + extension though. having just one long cord is annoying.

headphones: grado sr60's for home use, aaand i just dont recommend headphones for outside use. earbuds are much more manageable.

wireless: i think logitech makes one. check it out.

I think I'm just going to go with high quality headphones or earbuds. My price range is up to 150$

sennheiser HD580 (or used HD600)
audio technica ath-a700 (or used a900)
used beyerdynamic dt880 (you might have to go over to get these)

that's just what i can think of right now... and you will want to get some kind of headphone amp for all three... the a700 (or a900) would be the only ones that could sound half decent without

I had a pair of AKG K66's for a while a loved the C*** out of them. They lasted me almost 6 years of day-to-day use before they died. Best part is, you can get them for less than $50 if you shop around.

I have a pair of Panasonic HT-somethings that my friend got me for christmas a few years ago. They're the most comfortable things I've ever worn, and that's also the longest I've ever been able to keep a pair of headphones. I've dropped them countless times, as well as run over the cord with the wheels of my chair (on a hard surface, too), and they still work/sound great. When I get home I'll check the model number if you want.

It's a lot more portable than a lot of the things people have linked, which is the main thing I'm going for, and it has a way to prevent me ruining it.

If you want portable, get the Shure E2c, E3c or E4c, depending on how much you want to pay. Or the Etymotic ER-6i or ER-4, depending on how much you want to pay.
