Anyone know what this car part is called?

My car has been falling apart recently. The latest thing to go missing is some kind of retainer that keeps the window wiper control stick from rocking up and down. Right now without this retainer the wiper control stick moves up and down just like the turn signal. The odd thing is that when the wiper control stick is pushed (accidently or by gravity) toward the ground, the wiper will engage at maximum speed. This is not supposed to happen, since on a 1994 Honda Accord the wipers are controlled by a knob at the end of wiper control stick.

Anyways, does anyone know what this "retainer" is called? I called a few auto parts stores and no one knows. It would be nice if I had the broken "retainer" to bring with me into stores, but it is nowhere to be found.

It looks like something that would clip into that spot. Don't know if you would call it a bracket? Maybe a local salvage yard might know what your looking for. Say hey I need this thing that is supposed to help hold the arm of the windsheild wiper control. Maybe even show them the picture. It would probabaly depends on the salvage yard but the one in my area sometimes would let you go back in the yard and take parts of of any cars they havn't crushed yet.

That's the god damn type-r radio reciever from Honda headquarter's satilite array to control the VTEC. REPLACE IT NOW OR YOU RUN THE RISK OF PERMANENT ENGINE DAMAGE OR EXPLOSION.

You won't find that at a parts store, thats for sure.

Go to a parts yard. If theres no parts yard you could probably steal a new "retainer". Accords are dime a dozen.

Actually it is supposed to happen because on most hondas (if not all, but atleast the 3 I've owned plus my dads.. all ranging from the year 1989-2000) pulling down on that lever will engage the windsheild wipers.. but it's not supposed to stick in that position. Going to a junk yard is a very good idea.. but I'm looking into it for you

Pulling the lever towards me will engage the wipers and the water spray, but right now it is able to move up and down like the turn signal. That's not supposed to happen.

Don't know if there are any salvage yards near my home, but it sounds like a good resource for this strange part. Tempted to widdle one out of wood. Fire hazard anyone?

I got a '93 honda accord aniv. model, the the level doesn't stick.

Yes, but pushing the lever down will engage the wipers full speed for 1 window pass. I'm sure if it's held down, like in your case. They will rapidly move, so you just need to figure out why it's sticking.. get any sticky substance on your steering column?? ;)

Go to a junkyard and get one?

So it sounds like I am missing something to spring the lever back into it's neutral position.
Junkyard is probably the cheapest solution.
