Yeah, I know Sharp has had 3D screens for a while now, but apparently they kind of sucked. Supposedly this is a lot better. Can't wait to get my hands on one, anyways.

Heh, if technology continues to advance like this, I wonder what kind of a meaning "no-lifer" has in 2025.

One nearly ready-made source of content is modern video games, which actually generate three-dimensional objects internally, then flatten the images into 2-D representations for standard monitors. Philips has developed hardware and software that can extract the original depth information from the game engine and use it to create 3-D images on a WOWvx display.

In New York, the company demonstrated the technique with the first-person shooter Call of Duty. It looked almost perfect, except for a little shimmering around the edges of objects, which Philips says will be fixed in the coming months.

Red Steel would be awesome with that

it would be really hard to look away at first, but it would have to look real to hold anyone's attention for long.
Laughing at my spelling herts my feelings. Well laughing is fine actully, but posting about it is not.

If I recall correctly the boring old 2D TV does hold many peoples' attention for long.

I think bad 3d will look a lot worse than the television. Our brains are designed specifically to interpret visual information in 3 dimensions, so small flaws in the display will be even more apparent in 3d. And then theres this thing with trying to convert 2d movies over. That'll never work. Just shoot the movie in 3d in the first place. And there are going to be view angle issues, aren't there?
Wikissassi sucks.

Arg. I want these to come out for retail or at least demo so I can go to an electronics store and see it.

Because it's not something you can just watch a video or see a picture of, or something.

A tv that would make you feel the need to duck when a stargate activates? Awesome.
