It's obviously one of those Nigerian scams with a new angle. (The Nigerian expatriate prince is now a Real estate investor from Egypt)

Perhaps I should ask him to give me his bank information so I can transfer the funds into my account for safekeeping. :P

How many of you have gotten these kinds of messages?

I've gotten a bunch like this in the last few days. They're starting to slip through the spam filters!

Same old scam, slightly different story. Hell, I got one in the mail a while back saying that I was the recipient of $12,500, but that I needed to send in $1700 in processing fees before I could get the cash prize.

Just wondering .. did you do all that markup by hand, or did you use some tool (like Word's track changes thing but for BBCode? I guess) .. because that looks incredibly, incredibly tedious.

I did it by hand. I would have used Massassi's editor for the color, but since it doesn't give you the option to apply strikethrough to highlighted text, it was easier to write it all out.

Even though it's obviously a scam, I would have written back for fun to ask them to deduct the $1700 from the prize money instead, just to see what they do.

an interesting side note-- .pl is a polish domain extension, so unless the're spoofing it, it kind of gives away the fact that it's not really a guy from egypt.

I've also been getting a lot of stock tips spam lately... usually with very misleading message titles and meaningless text to evade spam filters. Of course, any investment advice is generally worth what you pay for it...

Reply back! See how long you can string him along, and what you can make them do. I read a transcript of another guy doing that once, and I've tried my hand once or twice.

It's fun. :)

What scares me is that my university policies brochure for this semester sounds eerily similar to the way these scammers write.

I tried to scam a scammer like that, but each email I got from them was more stupid than the first.

I haven't got these emails for a long time. The filter must have worked properly.
