I think it's great they noticed the demand out there and are doing something about it, but the fact that I'll have to rebuy the entire DVD edition just because it now comes with the unaltered original edition kinda sucks.

If this is old news ignore me.

Quite frankly the only edit that I didn't like was that goddamn song in RotJ. I'll stick with my current DVDs.
nope.

I'll be happy with good looking sabers and NO FRIGGIN HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN at the end of RoTJ.

And give Fett his voice back, thank you.

The only changes in Star Wars I don't care for are Boba's voice and Greedo shooting first.

Boba's voice REALLY bothers me.

what about the circle jerk scene at the end of RotJ they deleted?

I find it amusing that there are fans out there that are so stubborn about the things they didn't like with the special edition stuff that they'll still hail the unaltered versions as the best, even though from what I remember it'll only have stereo sound and none of the digitally-remastered sound or clean-up and deal with the "yub yub" song at the end of RotJ. I think the special edition end was way better. The only thing I don't like about HC being at the end of RotJ is that he still looks too evil. I still think he's better than the bum they had in the original.

Sorry, obviously what I meant to say is that Lucas raped my childhood, and it's about damn time he released the good old Star Wars on DVD.

Agreed, I personally liked seeing Hayden at the end of RotJ, just not the mischeveous face he gives off.

I don't remember the yub yub song. But I remember the small sandstorm seen after Han's rescue in RotJ.

I actually hated the new scene with Darth Vader and the Empire in ESB.

Han doesn't even shoot first in the original. Greedo's gun clearly explodes in his hand.

-See, watch it again. You can very clearly tell that a meteor smashes into him from a great height. Han never shot first.

They kept that scene, just in a different movie.

I'll just stick with the copy of the trilogy I've got. That's right, the one (singular) box set, rather than shelling out each and everytime they make some minute change that I don't even care about.

The fact that shooting at someone with a blaster POINTED at you is "coldblooded" makes no sense. Any smart person would not wait for someone to shoot first...

The whole "Han/Greedo shot first" is ultimate moronity and I have never cared about that and probably won't.

Changing "Bring my shuttle" to some technobabble wasn't a good decision though.

Or useless changes in RotJ, Jabba's palace.

A RotJ with most ewok-scenes cut would have been better, those things are more annoying than Jar-Jar.

I have the 1997 remastered / original vhs

They claimed that that would be the last time the original trilogy would be published.

I still think that the yub-nub song was better than the SE ending. It gives you the sense that the alliance really is just a small band of rebels, and we're witnessing their well-earned celebration just after battle, not general partying a few days later after the word got around. It seems more personal.

...in that form. There has not been a release of the thx remastered version since, and there will not be again. The version coming to dvd is EXACTLY what people saw in theaters. No "Episode IV A NEW HOPE," etc. just stereo sound and (not like the theater) a 4:3 aspect ratio.
