I just came across this news article which describes the new reiteration of the Thundercats for the new generation (aka "those kids who watch Digimon"). Here's part of the description from the article.

When they aren't fighting evil, the Thundercats play together as a rock band.

Something is definitely wrong here. Hopefully their news source, "DM Danny," is slightly unreliable.

That's horrific...
"Jayne, this is something the Captain has to do for himself"

"N-No it's not!"

"Oh."

Yet another childhood memory being viciously raped by some studio exec.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

I don't really see the problem here. I mean, they're just trying to appeal to a younger, "hipper" audience in the most cost effective way possible.

Instead of encouraging imaginative, unique, new shows, they'll just use an older show that proved to be somewhat successful, take out all the parts that made it successful and replace them with new age sort of equivilents, then they'll ruin the show, and call it a bust.

Easy!

I'd say you killed all your braincells. But you didn't have any to kill in the first place.

As long as they're honest and call it "Thunderpussies" I'll have no complaints.

I'm glad I didn't watch the original, or I'd have emotions about this. I'm still pissed about how power rangers got ****ing raped season after season.

Ugh... Turbo.

Agreed. Older power rangers weren't that cool, but they could definitely kick today's rangers' asses.
I had a blog. It sucked.

See, the fact you were young enough to watch power rangers disturbs me.

But not as much as what has happened to my beloved Thundercats. :(

Power Rangers started in '92, no? Same year I was born. I don't REMEMBER watching power rangers aside from the Mighty Morphin' Movie, along with the Turbo Rangers Movie. My mom tells me I obsessed over them though.

Both of those movies kicked ***, by the way.

Watch the Teen Titans or Xiaolin Showdown to see an example of this. Basically it's regular american animation but makes use of anime-like"super deformed" emotional expressions and character designs.

Ugh, someone I knew (much younger than me) got the first movie for Christmas (the year it came out) and I had to watch it with him twice in a row.

SCARRED FOR LIFE.
