Just played through the game (finished on Easy), and it's complete freaking INSANE. Probably my current fav. game, and definetly the best action game I've played. Cool story, too. Or at least, cool presentation. Sexy music, too. Anyone else beat it?

Lots and lots of replay value here, with 6 (you pick up 2 new ones as you go through the game) styles and the ability to play as Vergil and all.

Opinions? Any other awesome action games you know?

Freakin' hard. But I was playing on medium, original version, and I got stuck at the big flying snake thing. I was too stupid to think of jumping on it's back and, hence, just tried to shoot it to death. With the pistols.

Was fun though, love the music.
I had a blog. It sucked.

How does that one compare with the first and second ones?

The first Devil May Cry is the best I reckon. That game was just awesome.
The second I personally found to be a great let down, the enemies were all kinda crappy (demonic tanks?) and the game jut didn't.. it just didn't work for me.
It's easier then the first, harder then the second (another thing I didn't like about the second, way too easy)
Before I start rambling too much... Devil May Cry 3 is very good, and if you thought the first one was purchase worthy (some thought it was too short.. pfft, that game has great replay value) then the third one is too.

My brother bought DMC3 a while ago, but I never actually got round to playing it. Maybe I should start before I have to move out next month =/

Reanted it, (not the SE) and beat it on easy.

Tried on medium and Cerberus was so freakin hard, so I went to easy.

Fun game, nice to finaly see something challenging nowadays. Very fun, but the story was lamer than crap, and there is only so much replay an action gme has for me.

I keep seeing the SE for only 20 bucks and I have almost bought it, but probably never will.

The SE for PC is coming out in september I think. I might pick it up as an "in-betweener" until I can't play Gothic 3 / NWN 2 / Dark Messiah

They had to put the easy mode in for American gamers because they thought it was too tough. It wasn't in the Japanese version, and I think they also just toned down the overall difficult for American release. :v:

What about the character of Dante himself? He was cool in the first one, but they made him really stiff and stupid, never really said anything, in the second one. I loved the first game and thought the second one was at least fun, but I hated what they did to his character.

Nah, Dante's awesome in 3. Same rockstar attitude as the original (I have to assume here, though, since I've never played the first two games, and probably never will unless they make a PC release for that too) Devil May Cry, and wonderfully well-done cutscenes to show of his skills (and the aftermentioned attitude). The game is technically a prequel, actually. In fact, after you beat the game, it sais something along the lines of "A prequel doesn't mean you can be a noob." Heh.

So yeah, the character of Dante. He just goes around mocking demons that are 10-fold his size and then proceeds to handle their arses to them. Very cool, very cool. Anyways, I think you'll love it.

You're wrong. In the original Dante Awakening, the normal difficulty was the equilvalent of hard in the Japanese version. However in the SE version, the normal difficulty is now equilivalent to the original normal difficulty of the Japanese version. The SE also included the "gold and yellow modes." In the original Dante Awakening, you must use yellow orbs to continue (equivalent of yellow mode in SE version). However when you continue, you don't get revived at the spot you died.

DMC SE 3 is one of the best action video game in my opinon. The combat system is very fluid and customizable. I'll agree that it can be challenging, but once you try to focus more on anticipating the enemies' movements and dodging, you'll do fine. I loved the game so much that I ended up buying the SE version even though I owned the original just so I can play as his badass brother Vergil. Spent somewhat more than 50 hours playing through the game on normal, hard, very hard, Dante Must Die/Vergil Must Die, and Heaven or Hell. I still don't consider myself good though. I can't jump cancel aerial raves or starfalls consistently, or get SSS rank on all missions.

Top notch Dante video
Excellent Vergil Videos

Well, I stand corrected.

Wait..what?

Not what I heard...I heard it was the other way around, our Hard was the equivalent of their Normal. I'm POSITIVE that's what XPlay said (Yeah, shoot me. I watched XPlay 6 months ago.).

Yeah, DMC3 SE was cool. But I did the sweet thing. I bought SE after I rented the original. The original was freakin hard. But Dante is awesome.
obviously you've never been able to harness the power of cleavage...

I didn't find it hard at all actually... I found it semi-challenging yes... but wait till you get to DMD and Heaven or Hell modes... Heaven or Hell may seem easy cause of the one-hit kills... and it is... buy damn is it hard cause you can't get hit at all... or your dead.

I am a huge fan of Devil May Cry. I had to redo all the stuff I went through to get all the stuff after I bought the Special Edition but meh it was worth it... playing as Vergil Rocks.

Anyway... I haven't been here in a loooong time... I wonder if anyone will remember me... oh well...

Dante kicks major arse in this game, hands down my favorite DMC game to date.

I'm wondering if he's going to have the same character in DMC4 for the PS3, or if they're going to stick to him being more serious and crap like they did for DMC2 (of which DMC4 is the chronological continuation, I presume).

I don't think they will make him like his DMC 2 counterpart. This is due to the fans' reactions from the second game.
2006-08-27, 8:02 PM #20
I certainly hope so. However I'm really not sure, considering DMC3 was a prequel - so that Dante could be young and cocky and all that. From what I understand his character changes over the course of DMC1 and and 2.

I think DMC 2 will be like Highlander 2. Everyone will just pretend it never happened.

Yeah alot of fans react this way. Actually, the creator kind of acted the same way too, but saying in Viewtiful Joe that it wasn't Dante who was in DMC 2.

As some of you may know, I've been a rabid DMC fan, even have a character named Dante on WoW (Can't leave a game without it)

The first DMC was made by Hideki Kamiya, actually kinda on mistake. The concepts of DMC was that it was spose to be originally a Resident Evil game. The game and engine was too different, but Capcom didn't want it to go to waste.

The second one had a shift of hands, letting DMC fans upset.

The third one was an attempt to make up for number 2, and it did pretty well.

Because it's pretty well, DMC 4 will be released sometime 2007.

Also, the song you posted is actually illegal content, and it also starts late in the song.

They say there will be a playable version of DMC 4 at the Tokyo Game Show. I can't wait for DMC 4 news.
