Milenthwayii
2006-08-23, 10:00 PM #1
Hey everybody, I haven't posted her in a while, it seems. But I've got some news! Part one of my story is entering the final stages - editing! I'm nearly done with a first edit, then I'll be passing it off to a few people for suggestions and editing. Anyhow, once I get that passed off, I want to begin work on some of the illustrations (mostly the cover).

So I need to enlist the help of someone who is familair with the ins and outs of Terragen or some other program that can make planets. I intend for the background of the cover to be a shot of the planet Milenthwayii, which is a main focus of the story. I have been playing around with it myself, but don't seem to be making prgress as fast or as well as I'd like, so I thought I would see if anyone here was interested in designing this planet for me. The winner will be credited of course, and will get to be one of the ones to read over the cript and give suggestions/comments.

Here's the basic criteria of the planet:
Two Large landmasses, one mostly in the Northern hemisphere, the other mostly in the southern.

There are large oceans seperating these continents, with archipelagos inbetween.

On the northern continent, on the eastern end, should be an inland sea with an outlet to the ocean. This spot should be clearly visible in the shot of the planet.

The land should largely be green and the water a deep blue. There should be some lighter areas, especially to the north of the inland sea, that would be grain farms.

It is described as a planet of exquisite beauty when viewed from space, so make it live up to this!

Your original entry may not be used as the actual cover, my goal is to actually use the design as a basis to give off to an artist friend of mine who will be compiling the components into a painting. That's the plan, at least. If nobody submits anything or expresses interest, I'll see what I can do myself with her help.

I don't think Terragen does planets.

...but can Terragen provide the essential elements to sustain life?

I would've said yes if it wasn't for that. I've had too many people butcher my work in one way or another.

Holy crap, you finished it? Score. I remember bugging you about this YEARS ago.
Think while it's still legal.

It will be used in a sweet poster, if it's any consolation. I just thought that a painted cover was what I was going for. If you want to compile multiple components though, I might be swayed away from that though.

And, I've only finished the first part, and it's on the first edit. I expect it will still have to go through another rund or two of edits, and I still need to do the second part (depending how long it runs, it might be broken into a third as well.)

You'll let us know when it's published, yes? How much will a signed copy cost me?
Wikissassi sucks.
