Okay, this looks fun as hell. Alot of people knocked the cell shading, but it looks like it'll be REALLY rad. TFC was totally comical to play anyways, just because of how absurdly action oriented and FUN it is to play.

By the way, I bet those guys at Fortress Forever feel like a bunch of tools now. Makes you wonder why they keep going.

It's not really cel-shaded. More like heavily characterized. Reminds me of The Incredibles. Which isn't a bad thing at all - I think it looks really nice and really fun to play. That bit with the spy got me all kinds of wet. Oh man.

I loved NOLF's style, this looks sweet as well.

That site also has links to some HL2: Episode 2 videos and a Portal gameplay video in their recent news. It all looks very awesome.

I love the fact that rocket jumping is still a vital and encouraged tactic :)

While the whole "extremely violent saturday morning cartoon" feeling is still gonna take some time for me to get use to, it's looking great so far. Regardless of the art style, you can't say this isn't a whole lot prettier than TFC.

Makes me wish I'd played TFC.

And that I had a connection that I could play that on.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Wahhh Wahhh Wahhh Wahhhhhh!

Be happy you never had to deal with anything sub-14.4.

Do we have to have Half-Life 2 to be able to play TF2? Makes me want to go buy it. :P

I don't think so.

And Rob, our dial up varied between 14.4 and 28.8 depending on the day and whenever we got on.
I had a blog. It sucked.

So, any words on a TF2 and Portal release date?
nope.
2006-08-24, 12:56 PM #20
Well he said sub-14.4 so your post is invalid.

I heard the release date was Nov/Dec 2006 back when HL2: EP1 came out. Don't know if that is still valid, though.

Please tell me they are going to make a remake of dustball, with lots of s*** flying around and bloody explosions everywhere.

Looks like the scout class has more use. Hopefully, they keep "concussion nade jumping." But the Engineer class looks still badass, which I like.

They didn't show much of the pyro class (other than what they do best, dying). I never got the hang of using the pyro class to make good kills.

Oh did anyone notice the map this video was on is a remake on the most popular TF CTF map?

I just noticed that the second time I watched it.

Looked cool, though I couldn't help but be disgusted by the muzzleflash on that mini gun.

Why? It fits just fine with the look of the rest of the game.

It's opaque. I like muzzleflashes to be rendered with additive blending or whatever it's called.

Disappointing. Lack of blood.
2006-08-24, 9:36 PM #33
I don't recall blood being a requirement for a fun game.

I won't be able to play TF2 at college anyways so I don't care. Next summer should be fun though.

I forsee the spy being abused. All the "1337" dudes will be spies and "PWN" everyone.

Personally I think the engineer looks cool as hell. ;)

I concur.

As for the spies, it'll happen. But the invisiblity != incinvncible. The demoman or a soldier will definately take one or two out unintentionally.

TFC was absolutely ridiculous, but ridiculously fun to play. The new look makes it what it should have been all along. This looks perfect. I hope the sniper still needs to do the long button hold for full effect.

Pyro was my favorite class.

You use pyro mostly on heavy weapons guys, because you can run circles around them and roast them..

Then they whine in the chat that you must be cheating, because obviously pyros don't get kills.
2006-08-25, 12:18 PM #39
As an engineer, making pyros explode (and kill nearby teammates) with EMP grenades is lots of fun.
