Evidently, a certain brand of laptop battery made by Sony had been seen becoming dangerously overheated, even to the point of catching fire. So companies (Dell and Apple) who produce laptops with this battery are recalling the parts. And I have an iBook that contain the recalled battery, so I'm shipping that damn thing back to Apple.

Anyone here ever had a recalled product, toy or part?

A can of baby food for my little cousin, rather. Apparently, some tiny glass plinters had gotten into it during fabrication. :|

Heh, some days ago I read a report about someone's holiday house almost burning down because the battery of his laptop went up in flame. And yes, it was the type you mentioned.

That reminds me of a grand urban tale in Finland. Like, if you have burnt chips on a bag of chips, you can return it to the company and get like dozens of free bags just like that.

But nope. I don't recall recalling anything.

Votka (sic); some cheap nasty turkish vodka. It wasn't mine but I'd been drinking some the day before a warning went out on the radio that it contained methanol.

my car was recalled due to a defect in the door and electrical, but i got it afterwards and the previous owner didn't take it in. So my driver's side door handle is broken on the outside, my driver's side window is broken, my driver's side handle to pull the door shut on the inside is broken, and it leeks when it rains. Also the turn signals don't always work and the trunk pops open randomly.

Someone I know of, their car got recalled a few years back because the companies hooked the battery in the wrong way with the positive end attached to the frame, so cars were rusting after about 18 months.
nope.

My families van had a recall on it for spontaneously catching fire. But the recall was release after it exploded into flames in our driveway.

That happened to my friend's uncle about 12 years ago. Unfortunately he was in the vehicle at the time.

That wasn't supposed to sound so humourous.

That reminds me of these Pokemon (Happy Meal?) toys that were recalled because the "pokeball" latched on to a face of a baby.

I had a new ford truck which was recalled twice. But they didn't replace it, they just fixed two issues. Both I think had to due with faulty cruise control switches that could light the damn thing on fire.

I wish MS would recall freaking windows.

Aye, I'm waiting for a shiny new battery that is less likely to fry me than this one.

Costco sent us a letter that they would accept a return for opened bags of Almonds cause they could have been infected. Sort of a recall, but basically they knew that most everyone had eaten them already. We returned the last 5 almonds and they gave us a new bag.

My vehicle was recalled to to structural issues with the exhaust. Mine had already cracked, and I had it welded back together, well before the recal notice went out. So Hyundai just gave me a free inspection and a promise to replace the exhaust if it broke again.
