You could put all your neat YouTube finds in one thread. :) Just an idea.

Like I said before, all of you're threads are uniteresting and very boring.

the documentry if thats what you want to call it was horrible... But google soved my questions... Thats kinda neat actually....

The coal mine under the city has been burning for almost 47 years and apparently has enough coal to continue to burn for another 100 years or more.

Yeah I think it's pretty interesting about that town and the underground fires that are still going. That place just seems eery.

"Then, on February 14, 1981, the ground collapsed under Todd Domboski. The boy clung to roots above a 50 foot subsidence below which, the flames of the fire burned. Tom was pulled to safety by his cousin, but this event was the catalyst that spelled the end for Centralia." ~ http://www.offroaders.com/album/centralia/Centralia.pdf

The Centralia ZIP code was revoked in '02.
DISCLAIMER: This is just armchair observation, not the result of many hours of deliberate study of the subject. I'm by no means an expert, but just an ignorant hick who's putting his two cents in. For that and a nickel, you can have a cup of coffee.

So did I. Having never played the games, it was nice to finally have a taste of why Pyramid Head was so popular.
Why do the heathens rage behind the firehouse?

that town is just creepy. I know its just a mine fire but I guess how its a ghost town and everything is dead (trees and such) just makes it creepy

ahh weird...a comment someone left on the offroader site

.............................................................................................................

My name is Alinsa, I was born there at Centralia, PA... I have not been there since 1991.
My mother had first hand experiences at Centralia, and matter of fact so did I. Not dealing with The mine fire, it was no trash fire though... everything on 'Silent Hill' was actually, well....... the truth, people there with stupid bad religions, and calling people a witch, my older sister went through that, even though She started the mine fire, by being burned by the Witch-Hunters (Yes that really happened) but whom ever told people it was a Trash Accident, they were wrong (COMPLETELY WRONG!). Bad Experiences yes it was.

Pedantic.

Irony!

I really wanted to see Silent Hill, but I never got round to it :( Like most movies I want to see, actually. The DVD is quite cheap on Play, though, so I might get it when it comes out.

I talked to the guy who made the documentary and this is what he said:

"Howdy!
Yep it was me who did the documentary. I was actually the second person to post it on here. I didn't bother the other people who put it up because in the end people are still watching my own video.

Yea the hole situation up there is crazy. The best part of the story is when the fire just started but no signs from it had appeared... Then a haze started lingering in the valleys and by the cemetary, basement walls started getting hot to the touch and then the ground opened up beneath a little kid, almost sucking him into the burning mines.

Thats what got the nations attention. Then the government came and tried to buy people out. Some people didn't want to move so they condemned all the houses in the town. The people who live there now are technically squators.

Basically the bulldozers came in and leveled all the houses and now as the older people die out, they knock those houses down one by one. Now its a waiting game until nobody is left in the town. Some people think once that happens, they will come in and strip mine the entire valley since there is a massive amount of coal under the town.

Thats just a quick overview of the place. Theres lots of stories from there...

Thanks for your interest by the way! :-)

G"

I've been sucked in by the story of this town, its just so fascinating.
