What type of e-mail/e-mail client do you use?

Trying to decide if I should dump Eudora and go to Thunderbird or Gmail, or just keep it. Although an e-mail address is kind of like a phone number; it's hard to switch, but I just get so much damn spam that I'm just going to have to. Poll to follow...
<Lyme> I got Fight Club for 6.98 at walmart.

Thats why I've alwaysh ad two e-mails.

One for the spam and sign ups, one for the normal e-mail.

G-mail is pretty rad.

I never understood the attraction of email clients. We get people upgrading to tbird from eudora on campus all the time. I dont bother with any of them.

I use 2 email systems, so this should have been a check box.
nope.

Gmail is pretty nifty. I've only recently started getting a noticeable amount of spam emails, and only one has slipped through the filter since it started.

My dad uses Eudora, and its pretty decent. Its good if all you want to do is open a program to check your mail instead of logging in and all that.
Nothing to see here, move along.

I use Gmail with Thunderbird :psyduck:
2006-08-28, 2:08 PM #8
I use both GMail and Thunderbird. I use GMail for most of my e-mail, and Thunderbird to access my college e-mail account (this only works while on campus, grr, have to use their @#$%y webmail off campus).

gmail and thunderbird. gmail for spam/signups, thunderbird for school email via imap.

email clients are just a lot more convenient in my opinion. they're faster and more efficient at everything you do with email.

KMail here. I never understood why anyone would bother with webmail clients, at least on their own PCs.
Real clients are so much faster and you can do so much more with them.

Thats kind of a stupid argument for or against anything.

So?

Hitler could kill more jews than the roman empire. Does that make him better?

Maybe G-mail does everything I want, nothing more, nothing less.

I use:

Web-based:
OWA (for work)
GMail
Hotmail

Client-based:
Outlook 2003 (at work, for work, and at home via RPC over HTTP sometimes)

hotmail, because I'm too lazy to check my gmail, and only check hotmail because it's linked to in MSN messenger.
I had a blog. It sucked.

Outlook and WebAccess Outlook for work.

My school e-mail automatically forwards my mail from there to my Gmail account.

I use Gmail for two separate email accounts. Then I have my old Hotmail account. Thus I'm able to have three personalities on Myspace! Why? Because it’s proven that the most interesting people are as many people as they can be. Just look at Bat Man and his buddy Bruce Wayne. ;)

It means he's better at killing Jews, yes.

Yeah, but the roman empire killed the most important jew in the history of forever.

Actually, it was the jews who killed the most important jew ever. Way to go, jews.

I use gmail for most of my stuff, though I have a college Webmail account that I use for college related stuff. When at home I use Thunderbird to check it, but I make sure to utilize IMAP because there have been many occasions that I need to check a certain email on campus or from my other computer, and having it disappear to somewhere on my laptop's harddrive kind of sucks.

Well, you can probably find a client that does less, if you want to.

Normal clients are still faster. That will always be so, because they have to go through only one protocol to get their e-mail. POP or IMAP. With webmail clients you have two protocols. First HTTP to display the website and then it makes a POP or IMAP request.

Yahoo.
I don't email a lot. I check once a week or so, sometimes less.

I don't really like the idea of having one program for different purpose, web browsers should be used for browsing, email clients should be used for email and ftp clients should be used for ftp.

I use webmail if i'm not on my home machine, but I use thunderbird if it's available. All my email accounts have an IMAP webmail interface so everything works out fine.

I'm thinking about forwarding my mail from my Gmail account that exists now into a new account. I've started to get about 10 spam messages a day, and GMail filters them out pretty well, I'm just too lazy to empty the spam. So I'l forward all the clean mail to a new account.

I use Thunderbird for most of my accounts, but if I'm away from home, I'll check my gmail accounts using the web-interface.

why do you need to empty them?

I use gmail as my primary, with outlook at work. I have all my gmail stuff forwarded to my work address so that I have stuff to keep me entertained during the day. I do still have a hotmail account linked to my msn, though they recently deleted all my saved mail becaus I haven't accessed it in so long.
