You're listening to Massassi Radio : The Stream Of Souls

To coin a soundbyte that Dud said in the Radio's last run. Anyway, Cool Matty's given me permission to try and rejump start the radio, so here I am. Apparently mb and others have been talking about reviving Real Tech For Massassians, and Geb mentioned a Radio version of NeS to me last night, which would also be handy for the ISB as a new thread could be created where NeS is rewritten into a format suitable for radio, because let's face it, you can't read *[x] jumps and tree-hugs [Y]* without sounding very silly.

Anyway, at first I'm just trying to get a few willing DJs to volunteer to begin with. We're looking for a varied lot of music too, so please, lets not have endless entries when all you're going to play is metal, or endless shows filled with 90s pop.

I've drawn up a blank timetable to begin which is devided up into 24 1 hour slots [GMT], so everything is up for grabs. If you could only do certain times on certain days, that is fine, I can accomodate.

Once people are signed up, I'll tell them how to connect to the radio to broadcast.
[Note, you need winamp to broadcast.]

nope.

Wrong.

Every launch and relaunch of massradio/britstorm/whatever died on its arse based on music.

It will need more stuff like RTFM and discussion programmes to hold interest, considering that most folks have better things to do than pay attention to a timetable so they can tune in to someone on the internets interpretation of good music, most folk have better things to do.

For this to work it needs less music and more other fun stuff.

(Get Geb to do a radio play :P)

Hey, people can collaborate and create any show they like, music based or not.

I'm just looking for content, but it can be whatever you want.
nope.

I wouldn't mind doing some rambling, but I can barely be bothered to make playlists for my own listening, never mind try to put something together to broadcast.

it occurs to me I don't have a mic since I took mine apart, so nevermind...

Hey, you don't really need a mic for musical filler!
nope.
2006-08-30, 12:50 PM #8
Thursday or Friday (or both) any time. I have a nice mic and a wide range of music. I DJ'd last time we had MassRadio.
Think while it's still legal.

Is this actually happening? Who's doing it?

We were more just discussing. I mean if we could grab one or two voice actors to do different voices to save one person trying to create original ones outside their vocal range it would be great. :P
nope.
2006-08-30, 1:15 PM #11
Cool. I'd like to help...are you spearheading the initiative?

I guess so. :P
nope.
2006-08-30, 1:26 PM #13
I just want to say that I can't run it because not only do I not have Winamp, but also because I don't have a good clear voice. I'll do everything I can though to help organize any sort of NeS and/or ISB reading-dealie. But first, there needs to be some interested and able voice actors and the like for this to work.

I'd be interested in doing something with the radio, maybe along the lines of religious material. Also perhaps piano/soundtracks/other types of music besided heavy metal and such.
I'd be open for anything in the early afternoon Pacific time, or also just about any time on Sundays....
2006-08-30, 1:52 PM #15
We should have a live dealie where we use roger wilco or skype to talk on the radio and argue and ****.

Are there ways of broadcasting from Linux? I don't feel like googling.

Massassi radio + a great DJ + Tiberium Sun=Fun
Why? Because the music is great!

I might be able to do something. I'm not quite sure what yet though.

If you can get winamp and the broadcasting plugin to work, yeah.

(In other words, slim, but possible)

I'd certainly like to DJ, but I barely have the time/energy to put something together...

Thanks for the reference, Bacon. :)

And I am so in. This time, I won't have my mom walking in during recording and saying "Zac, who are you talking to?" all the time...
I'm in college now, so.. awesomeness!

I get my final schedule on friday, so I'll pick a time then.

Anyway, I'm in for RTFM again, and any other radio show that wants me.

I've still got Shoutcast installed and stuff, but unless all you listen to are various instrumental tracks from FF games, Halo, Half-Life, or stuff by the Flaming Lips and REM (and not much stuff, either) then it'll be rather pointless.

EDIT: And Dragonforce and Stratovarious. Or some stuff from Cowboy Bebop. Either way, you get the idea. I hope.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

My music library has expanded 10-fold from last time too, so I can run filler also.

Oh, and Baconfish, the server has the capability of playing an mp3 file when no one is connected. If you want to do that, send me an email with the mp3 file you want played to webmaster@sorrowind.net and I'll set it up. I'd recommend something saying there isn't a DJ connected at the moment :p

Cool Matty now with more anime soundtracks and less real music! *failure* :psyduck:
Think while it's still legal.
2006-08-30, 7:40 PM #25
Wow, I think this is the ONLY time I've agreed with SAJN.

But yeah, we're planning on bringing back RTFM when our schedules end up smoothing out and things get back to normal. It'll also be in bite-sized chunks (instead of the 1.5-2 hour streams we had :psyduck:) and more topical. Too bad we can't have a RTFM:E3 now though :gbk:

J-Pop and J-Rock do not count as different genres, as they all suck.

I'm in for any radio shows, or for reading of NES (despite my lack of participation in the written thread). I may also be able to pull some music shifts, but most likely I'll just fill in when somebody isn't there or misses their spot.

Flaming is cruise control for cool.

And I'm sorry you hate it. I like it cause I actually like the singing and melody, not because it's japanese. I've got music in other languages too. :v:

Uh huh, sure. I've heard some of the songs you have, and that's not "singing and melody" that's "a 4 year old talking in a different language to ****ty synth".

Yoshi, please don't do your usual thing in this thread.

Anyway, I'm a tad busy tonight, so I'll try fitting in suggested times some time tomorrow with the posts here and the various pms people have sent me.
nope.

And we're going to talk more about sorting this NeS radio thing out, right? :v:

RTfM will be a reality again sometime in the very near future. I think MB is back in school, and I've got a 3 hour time slot pretty much every day of the week to dedicate to at least an hour to the show. Yoshi's always available (lol j/k) and we want to start it up again. It's just a matter of when we'll get the first RTfM: Redux recorded.

Actually I'm not always available now. But I am at night.
