Here's some things you might like to read about hemp:

Err, no. In Dutch, canvas is canvas, and cannabis is cannabis. I'm seriously doubting most 'facts' stated in those articles.

Yeah, that first one is a bit weird, but still raises some good points.

Actually you may be wrong: http://www.answers.com/topic/canvas

dont have any better resource, so from online etymology dictionary:

canvas
1260, from Anglo-Fr. canevaz, from O.Fr. canevas, from V.L. *cannapaceus "made of hemp," from L. cannabis, from Gk. kannabis "hemp," a Scythian or Thracian word. Canvas-back as a type of N.Amer. duck is from 1785.

There's more than on kind of hemp in the world. Some is very fiberous and makes good rope and cloth. Others are less fiberous and get you high.

I think they're referring to the origin of the word, not what the translation is today.

George Washington grew hemp. The Declaration of Independence was printed on it.

Mass stupidity doesn't require a conspiracy. It flourishes on its own.

I'm afraid I must agree. ^

Yes, canvas does mean Hemp in Dutch, I guess it's just that most people don't know it's an old synonym. Most Dutch just say 'Hennep'.

And I agree there are some good points about Hemp being a 'threat' to certain companies. I've seen better articles about that subject, though.

How is hemp a threat to any company?

OH NOS COTTON T-SHIRTS HERE COMES TEH HEMP!

OH NOS TEH GAS PEOPLES, TEH HEMP OIL!

Because if everyone had a car that could run on biodiesel, we wouldn't need silly, hugely expensive gasoline.
2006-08-30, 9:11 PM #16
Yeah, because we'll pull all the plants right out of our asses.

And all the biodiesel is going to magically end up at the gas station.
2006-08-30, 9:36 PM #17
Rob, obviously it would take some work to get their, but I'd much rather be dependent on home-grown hemp instead of foreign oil.
2006-08-30, 9:43 PM #18
Oh ****, sorry guys.

Drought this year.

Looks like you're all walking to work!

Gas, albeit fluctiating in price constantly, is at the very least dependable for the most part.
2006-08-30, 9:44 PM #19
Oh right, draughts. You know how when there's a draught we all die because we have no food? Yeah, that sucks.

I don't think you realize exactly how much farmland we'd need to sustain our country's fuel lust.

Bio-Diesel isn't suitable for a large country.

Maybe small areas.

Maybe if only big companies used it.

We need to figure out how to run our cars on fat.

I mean fat stores energy and we have plenty of it.

Two birds with one stone is all I'm sayin'.

Yeah, they already do that. Diesel engines can run on left over grease from the fry machine without any kind of modifications.

Great the marijuana conspiracy speal again. I already argued why marijuana should be kept illegal at GameFAQS, not sure if I'm in the mood to do it here (hopefully Massassi isn't full of potheads).
2006-08-31, 6:41 PM #31
Uh oh. You might get dragged into something here, seeing as pot basically has the same effect on one's brain as alcohol, just in different areas.

Hemp is apparently good for fishing. Smells absolutely disgusting when prepared, though.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

It would probably work. It would take a little refinement, but I don't see why it wouldn't.

What, precisly, does using hemp for rope and stuff have to do with smoking it?

Furthermore, the kind of hemp you smoke doesn't make very good rope.
Wikissassi sucks.

It has absolutely nothing to do with it whatsoever. Why did you think it does?

This is precisely the point.
2006-09-03, 10:02 AM #40
I didn't say I think it does. I asked what it does; obviously I don't know what it does because it doesn't. This isn't the first time you've totally misread what I posted. This is becoming an annoying habit.
Wikissassi sucks.
