StarFox64 still best in series.

Playing through StarFox Command. It made me miss the 'rail shooter' missions so much that I went and played StarFox64 Instead. But multiplay over the internet? Without some dumb subscription like xboxlive? Awesome.

I should do more review threads. I give this game a 'pick it up used' rating.
Wikissassi sucks.

I give TimeSplitters a kill your own family to play it rating.

Is it better than Starfox Assault?
I had a blog. It sucked.

Are you talking about the SNES sequel that only came out in Japan?

There was no sequel that came out only anywhere.

There is an incomplete rom-dump available on the internet.

Sonic sez:

Kids, there's nothing more cool than being hugged by someone you like. But if someone tries to touch you in a place or in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, that's ... NO GOOD. It's your body! No one has the right to touch you if you don't want them to. So what do you do? First, you say NO! Then, you get out of there!

I should try to play through the original Starfox on the SNES again. Starfox 64 is no problem but I never get far on the SNES. :(

D-pad is too annoying to use for flying in SNES.

All life is failure. Even when you think you've succeeded, you have in fact merely failed to fail. We can escape the cycle of failure only when we realize our true place in the cosmos.

Anyway, getting back on the topic of Starfox Command:

...I'm taking back what I said. It's no longer the third-best Starfox game, it's the second-best. Starfox Command has practically a dozen possible endings. I just discovered one of the coolest endings possible and I will now share it with you:

Early on in the game you are able to recruit Wolf as a temporary member of StarFox. If you don't kick him out right after Solar, he steals a machine from Fox and saves the day, basically disgracing StarFox Team. Fox and Falco, horribly depressed, leave Lylat for the edge of known space.

....and then they modify the Arwings into racing vehicles and become F-ZERO RACERS. I **** you not, people. F-Zero. F-goddamn-Zero. It's right in the game. They even have a picture of the Arwings as F-Zero racers. They do call it G-Zero, but... y'know. :v:

Also, depending on how you do things, it's possible to solo the entire game (less the training mission) with Falco. But if you do, Falco gets :emo: about how he wasn't there to help StarFox and he founds a new squadron with Kat and Andross' grandson.

So yeah, Starfox Command is a pretty close second to Starfox 64 in my book. Especially when you consider that it's a handheld game and not designed to be an epic game like the console ones.

I meant something other than a rail shooter.

I'm not that far into starfox command. I'm getting my *** kicked by the aquas level. Those big fish things just soak up way too many hits, and meanwhile I'm getting pounded by fire from something on the ground that I can't even see. :(

I had to go play starfox64 again to be sure; but, yeah, it's still awesome. Even if the graphics look much crappier than I remember.
Wikissassi sucks.
2006-08-31, 2:38 PM #26
Emon; the rail shooter parts are the BEST PARTS of starfox. And, unfortunatly, SFC doesn't have any. I didn't want a new starfox, I just wanted them to port SF64 like they did Mario.
Wikissassi sucks.
2006-08-31, 2:47 PM #27
I'm sorry, but Starfox was never meant to be a "space sim". It's just a fun game.

I know. I was making a jab at rail shooters. I think they're mind numing and boring.

It has one.

You haven't gotten there yet because you aren't anywhere near as awesome as I am.

Starfox 64 is nothing short of awesome. And I'm playing it right now :D

Just ONE? Please tell me it's sectorX. Please? Is it? And is it still full of GIANT ROBOT HANDS?

Clearly. Any hints? Like how I unlock the other missions in the choice screens?

Also, I was playing starfox64, and I was fighting andross - not the robot andross; the real one - and right after I blew up his eyeballs, and was making my first pass on the brain, my N64 reset! Then it reset again! And again! And then froze! Aargh!

Of course, I have had it since they first came out. It's kinda old. :(
Wikissassi sucks.

What really sucked about the SNES Starfox was that you could only go into first person view in space.

I like going in first person on StarFox 64, because it's just neat!

I'm picking up a DS today, and maybe this game. It depends on which game appeals to me most while I'm at Hastings.

Heh, funny thing is, I don't like going in first person on 64, because then it's harder to fly when you DO A BARREL ROLL.

No. Actually it's the final boss fight on Venom . It doesn't feel as good with the DS controls, which is probably why they never added more of them to the game.

To unlock the other missions you need to complete them in the singleplayer campaign. That means playing through the game making different decisions each time.
