Ive made a thread or two about my virus ridden crappy machine. I finally got it home after taking it to a coworkers house to go through the registry and whipe all the badness off. (he has a bunch of programs and such for that). BUT THEN FZZZT, power supply dies.

So Im fed up, going ot get a new PC. Looking for suggestions. Dont need something to great, just to watch movies and TV shows. maybe play a game or two. Surf the net and check email. nothing fancy.

Anything you boys/girls have liked? anything i should avoid?

You should not be allowed to get a new machine. You'll just ruin it.

Usually when my power supply dies, I just buy another one. You buy a whole new computer. With that type of logic, it's no wonder your computer is ****ed up.

That may be the case, but I've had dozens of instances at home and work where it isn't. Hell, I've gone through 3 Antec power supplies on the system I'm on right now, alone. I just wish I had enough money to where I could buy a new computer every time a component goes bad, without doing any troubleshooting.

The truth is, I don't know what type of system he has, and he's probably ready for an upgrade anyways.

I buy new ones cause the ones I buy are uber cheap. $200 for a Pentium 3, 30 G hard drive. Cheaper then fixing it

Since when? If a power supply ceases to function, it does not mean that it sends and OMG MASSIVE VOLTAGE SURGE into your system and kills everything.

Celeron M (1.8 Equiv)
40gb HD (well.. 34gb D:)
512 ram.

I can run FEAR, FFXI, Wolf:ET with virtually no setting tweakage (except for FEAR)

And I'm only paying $1200 (YAY FREAKING RENTWAY.) But you could find one for for probably $400 or less nowadays considering it's old to begin with.

Yes, if it was just the power supply I may have just replaced it but it needs to be upgraded anyways. Last time I bought another of the same machine cause there was more then the power supply wrong with it.

I just took the power supply out of another computer I had lying around and its running now. Still pretty crappy machine. Is it wrong to want a new machine?
