Early-released UK copies of LSWII:OT - genuine?

Here's an odd one. I popped down to GAME today and they were already selling their copies of Lego Star Wars II. I work at Currys and we've been told that we are under no circumstances to sell the copies we have or buy them for ourselves. In any case we didn't get PC copies in, so I grabbed one from game for £20.

Got it home, popped it in, I'm getting errors 1330 and 1603 during install and it just won't do it. Looking through the disc I'm a bit concerned as to whether or not these copies are genuine and why on earth they've been released two days early.

Anyone else in the UK able to shed some light on this?

In my expirience there are always some shops that sell their stuff (movies, computer games) a little earlier. Although they probably know that they can get into deep trouble for that.
I'd guess your problems are a coincidence. Just bring your copy back and have it replaced. Perhaps the disc is just broken.

They had copies in HMV, GAME and Gamestation today when I was looking about Edinburgh. They had the PS2 version on a machine for trial too.
nope.

I've replaced the disc, still no dice, and I've tried it on several computers.

I've heard from many sources that Lego Star Wars II was released very half-assedly.

The installer is broken, you can get a working copy here: http://rapidshare.de/files/28264136/53216.rar

I've checked it for viruses, to use it you'll either have to copy the files on the CD over to a folder on your hard disk and replace the old msi with the new one, or you could extract the ISO from the CD and replace the file and then remount the CD (or burn a new copy). As far as I can tell, you'll never be able to use the proper CD to install with.

If you're running XP (or 2k I guess) you'll have to change the shortcut it creates to point to LegoStarWarsII_Win2k.exe rather than LegoStarWarsII.exe (apparantly the game crashes all the time if you don't).
