for some reason my browser crashed and when I reopened it, it said that the current "profile" was laready in use.. so I had to make a new one.. so when I did, i lost all of my bookmarks and everything... does anyone know of a way to switch back to my old profile on firefox so I can get my bookmarks back?? :(

Reboot, and delete the *new* profile. Be sure not to delete your *old* profile. Firefox said it was still in use because it was still running. Rebooting is a cheap way to kill the zombified session.
And when the moment is right, I'm gonna fly a kite.

or ctrl+alt+del and cancel click firefox in the processes tab and click end process.... that gets rid of it too.

Be careful, you dont want to give your users too many options -- it might confuse and irritate them!

That happens if there is a zombie of Firefox running either close the process or reboot.

but it's not locked up now or anything.. it's just running in the 2nd profile, and I can't get back to the first

Start it with firefox.exe/firefox.lnk -p

Make sure firefox is not running.

Run firefox.exe -ProfileManager.

Delete the new profile.

Select the old profile, make sure "Don't ask" is checked, click OK.
