Battlefield 2 Question

I need some help from you folks who play Battlefield 2, because EA's support isn't exactly being helpful by being down.

Long story short, I'm planning on getting Battlefield 2, but shelling out 50 bucks doesn't sound really good right now. There are a lot of used copies on Ebay, where I can get it for ~$25.

Only problem I have with buying a used copy is that I can't find how the accounts are set up. When you buy the game and create an account, is the account linked to the games serial key? Or can I create a new account on a used copy?

I'm fairly sure you can make an account on a previously used game, because one of my mates uses it with a pre-owned game.

Accounts are tied to email addresses IIRC. You can have as many accounts as you want, kind of like in Diablo 2
