So I just watched my Tivo'd episode of the Simpsons last night.

I didn't laugh once.

Seriously, the ratio of funny to non-funny episodes has gone to 1:4
I can only hope the movie does justice to the entire series.

I haven't watched a full Simpsons episode for months.

Futurama, on the other hand, I can watch.

The simpsons has been trying more and more to compete with Family Guy by trying too hard to be random. It's not Simpsons style, and it's hugely obvious of what they're trying to do.

Yes. The Simpsons are really losing funny fast. It makes me very sad. :(

I thought last night's was kind of funny, but I rarely watch The Simpsons so I not a good judge. I thought the White Stripes bit was really clever, as well as "Who's arm was that?" "I don't know!"

There was a thing on G4 TV two weeks ago about this very issue: Should the Simpsons be cut?

I haven't enjoyed any of the simpsons episodes made in the past 5 or so years. It seems as if the writers have literally run out of ideas, and now the "plots" mainly consist of celebrity guest appearances and excessive pop culture references. Homer seems to have become so obnoxiously idiotic that it's not even funny.

Silly fanboy. Give it up. G4TV probably isn't as bad as you think.

Yeah, it's horrifying. They have 1 new program a week, and show it OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

I'll bet if I turned on G4 right now, I could tell you what was going to happen next, because I saw the episode a month ago.

I dunno about you, JediKirby, but G4techTV up here in Canada is fine. It still has Call for Help, and a bunch of new shows about gadgets and tech help.

this changed last year. They got rights to a bunch of shows, and they added interactive twist to it.

There are now a ton of game reviews on X-play. You'll probably never see the same show twice.

There's a new Attack of the Show every weekday, live.

New episodes of Banzai is now on G4TV, you can play along on the website.

They got a bunch of Star Trek episodes, along with what they call "Star Trek 2.0" which is an interactive T.V./Website thing where they show quotes, trivia, and the chatroom on the show while it's playing.

They have their own produced shows on Midnight Spank.

They have old Man Show episodes.

Cinematech is still boring and dialogueless, but interesting somewhat to see time to time.

Call for Help is new I think...but it's not on during prime time.

I could go on.

I agree. It's not even like I can force myself to look at it as a new style of show, because the "jokes", even if they are trying to be somewhat Family Guyish, are terrible! I don't know what it is I'm supposed to be laughing at. I can usually at least understand how somebody might find it funny, but not with this.

Such a huge shift from the old seasons. All I can ask is.....why? :(

It's not the same here.

Take everything you have from TechTV. Burn on it and piss on the ashes. That is what we have left.

I've seen both episodes of the Simpsons this season and I thought they were funny. The first was better than the second.

More to the point though, if you don't like the show anymore, don't watch it, and more importantly, stop *****ing about it.

Heh, they had a 10-episode marathon last month, where they showed the 10 best episodes, which have been voted on a website. 2/3 were from the first few seasons.

He solicited for opinions, we are supplying them, as are you.

I never found the Simpsons to be that funny, especially now. (Of course, I'm not sure how recent the episodes I'm getting here are)

The simpsons hit its peak with that one episode where that dude who's Homer's new coworker goes crazy.

Grimes? Yes, I do remember enjoying that one immensely. I don't know if it was the last one I liked. I remember 2000 being a good year, then getting unimpressed later. Ah well, I've found other things.

There was a stretch where I thought the show had lost their touch, then they came back with two good seasons, and now I'm so sure again. The later Simpsons are all a blur to me, with onyl certained ones standing out. For exampe, I loved the Chinese Visit/Adoption episode. They have seemed to take a more Family Guy route with their material, which hurts them. The Simpsons was always a sitcom in animated form, not a series of cartoon one liners. You only can take so much of that, and to be honest Family Guy is better at it. South Park is still the undisputed champion of the animated world these days though.

Lucky for me I'm stuck in the past with the Simpsons, I've not seen any new ones since I moved out of parents' house about a year ago.

And yes, Grimesy was a peak - as was Kamp Krusy (Gentlemen, to evil :: To the hydrofoil! :: Spare me your euphemisms, it's fat camp for daddy's chubby little secret!)

I've yet to see any family guy :(

Family Guy rocks, but only because Stewie is in there.

X-play is still good, always was but only because it's just barely changed from the techtv days.

Attack of the Show has some good points but they are few and far between, it can't hold a candle to The screensavers. And it seems like they keep adding more and more section relating to sex in someway with really bad enuendo.

Trek 2.0 sucks... and blows... at the same time.
I'll watch the original episodes but not with all that worthless crap around there, cutting the acctual show down to half the size. There's just not a single bit of stuff they throw up on there that's even worth looking away from The acctual tv show to read.

The Man show should not be on there, it has nothing at all to do with tech or games.
G4 used to be called 'video game tv', don't know if they still do that anymore but considering that less than half of their lineup has anything at all to do with video games.

Techtv was good, there was a time when I could just leave the tv on all day and there was always something atleast mildly entertaining on it and most things were somewhat eduactional aswell, they took a real down turn near the end but it was still worth watching.

And now that I've got my own place I don't even have cable anymore, heck I don't even have rabbit ears. So I don't even have to be bothered by flipping through all that crap.

Good riddance.

I still prefer the Simpsons over Family Guy, but most definitely over American Dad, which is a Family Guy clone on the same stinkin' network.

Not that I don't find Family Guy funny on occasion.

The best show on right now (as far as comedies) is How I Met Your Mother.
