The games I own:
New Super Mario Bros.[/u] (action-platformer, primarily non-stylus game)
The controls were a little weird at first, but I soon got used to them, and I enjoyed its old-school Mario goodness. My only major complaint would be that the new items don't really get much use. Past the first level, I don't really remember seeing the Mega Mushrooms in levels (though you can get them at Mega Mushroom houses), and the Blue Shell, while neat, is hard to use for most levels, making it more of a challange for expert players than an advantage in a tough situation. I found the Mini Mushroom, strangely enough, to be the best new item they offered. I beat it rather quickly, but there's a bit of replay value in trying to get all the special coins.
Starfox Command (flight-arcade shooter, primarily stylus game)
Again, the controls were strange at first, but once I got used to them, they feel quite good. The storyline (the dialogue in particular) is rather horrendous, but it's skippable. I think the added strategy element is a nice addition to the Starfox series, as you have to decide which characters to use where and whatnot in between battles. My only major complaint would be the time element, because it forces you to go for ONLY the specific bad guys you need to look for, and not explore and hunt down the other stuff that's around too, but I understand the reason for the time element, and was probably a good choice. The multiplayer over wi-fi is cool too.
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (RPG, non-stylus game)
I would only suggest this if you're a big Mario fan like me. The puzzles and the like always fustrated me in this game and the GBA game before, as did some of the controls. The Bros. Attacks are fun, though it's really easy to crush bosses once you get ice flowers (which lower their stats) and badges which raise your POW with successful Bros. attacks. It's definately appealing to Mario fans though, with the many references to past Mario games they make, and there's no real problems with combat control or grinding.
MarioKart DS[/u] (racing, non-stylus game)
I would arguably say this is the best MarioKart game available. It's a real fun racing game, and lets you play some of the tracks from the other MarioKart series (which is especially fun when you see the 3-D versions of the SNES and GBA tracks). It also has wi-fi multiplayer, which is really fun.
Super Mario 64 DS[/u] (action, either)
If you've never played the original for the N64 or you're just a Mario nut like me, this is a good game. It's basically an updated version of the N64 game for the DS. It includes a multiplayer mode (not wi-fi) and a bunch of mini-games, as well as new stars and the like for the main game, which help add replay value. I find the controls, however, a lot more difficult than for the original N64 -- I've beaten the original relatively easily, and yet some of the same challanges in the DS version are harder simply because of the controls. I got it soley because I could play Super Mario 64 the way it was meant to be played -- with Luigi <.<
Kirby's Canvas Curse[/u] (action, stylus only)
If you've played Kirby games before, it'll seem a bit weird at first, but works well with the stylus. Not much to say about this one, except that it's Kirby goodness.
That's all I have at the moment. If anyone would like to play MarioKart or Starfox over the wi-fi, please talk to me so we can swap friend codes and good times to play against each other.
