So I had these caffeine pills, right, 200 mg each. Supposedly that's equal to two cups of coffee.

I took five of them.

Holycrap

I'll be up until next month.

Well, at least you're not taking high doses of random presciption meds that you find sitting around in the breakroom at work, like a former coworker of mine. I don't think we ever figured out exactly what it was, either. Hopefully he isn't dead.

Yeah...I also wouldn't suggest buying pure caffeine powder. That stuff is...crazy.

I think now is a good time to be playing with that DVD burning laser idea you had earlier.

Dude... is that safe?

-Maybe look it up or something. I wouldn't trust taking 5 times the recommended dosage for a stimulant.

eh, if one pill is equal to two cups of coffee, that's only 10 cups. my normal dosage during a school day.

The wikipedia article and links therein tend to indicate that you need about 5g for it to be fatal. He's probably not going to feel very well for a while, nausea, diarrhoea, jittery etc.

Edit for the wiki haters: Yes I know it's not a substitute for medical advice.

Why do you even need to take those pills? What about time management?

Why'd you take caffeine pills? Doesn't that forfeit the whole reason for having your magical sleep machine, if you aren't going to sleep!?
I had a blog. It sucked.

They're really common here - we have a brand called Pro-Plus. They're advertised to students for staying up doing all nighters and stuff. I used to set one alarm for 6:30, take two pro plusses and then go back to sleep - when alarm two went off at 7:00, i was wiiiide awake.

I think Maeve taught me that actually

Now drink that vial of capsaicin you made a while back.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

As far as I remember, the effects of caffeine are increased when you consume it rapidly. ie. chugging an energy drink would have a greater effect than sipping it over the course of an hour. I don't remember where I read that so I can't verify it, but for those saying they drink 10 cups of coffee a day, it wouldn't be the same as taking 1000 mg of caffeine all at once.

Because the body has time to process some of the caffine when you consume it over time. Same as drinking 8 shots of whickey over a 24 hour period or drinking all of them in a couple of minutes.

Right, that makes sense. I don't know why I was thinking it was caffeine specific.

Well that was a fun night.

I got about a third of the way through Season 2 of Battlestar Galactica.

I also ate two hotdogs from the vendor across the street that stays open all night for some reason.
