How many of you have played this game?

It's absolutely amazing. My friend and I were playing it last night and we were totally amazed by the amount of detail and the 'little things' that went into it. We were totally amazed when we saw that one of our soldiers had been shot and that a medic had thrown the wounded soldier up over his back and was hauling him back to the medic station. For an RTS, I have -never- played anything like it.

Also, when I bought the game there were little tin containers with 'D-Day' patches inside of them. The display stand said they were free, so I just put one in my pocket and forgot about it. I just now noticed the bar code on the back. This may be stupid, but I'm not sure if I just stole a free item or not...

Cool. I'm a bit leery of buying it because I haven't played the demo, the demo is 1.7gb, and supposed to be insanely difficult to be very good at because of all the micro managing in battles. Would you reccomend it to someone who is less than mediocre at RTS games?
I had a blog. It sucked.

Well, my friend and I got utterly owned when we first started playing, but if you set it on easy and tweak the settings just a bit, it presents a good fun challenge. The micro-managing didn't bother me too much, but it is a game that keeps you constantly moving and reacting. I'd reccomend it, because I'm really not too good at RTS games myself.

It's a fantastic game. The realism is amazing. The levels are completely destructible too.

OK, thanks. It's on my list of games right after CoD 2 then.

Even better than Dawn of War (which is saying something).

I do miss my dreadnoughts though.

I only played the DoW demo, but it was ok.

I bought it earlier on a coin toss, it was this or CoD2. Oh my God THIS IS THE GREATEST WW2 GAME EVER. I can't tell you how much I love this game, and I'm just on level 2.
I had a blog. It sucked.

I love how this game takes every moment I've ever experienced in a ww2 fps and puts it all into one game.

Dude...setting up an ambush and just ANNIHILATING the patrols...

I'm not kidding you. Greatest WW2 game EVER.

Has anyone played the demo? Is it as good as the full game? Should I bother?

The demo is worth getting, but you might as well just go buy the game and save yourself some time.

OhmygodohmyGodohmyGod.

Seriously.

Not getting this game is like...it must be a sin.

It's so much fun..tanks suck a bit of the fun out, but on the second level with tanks, I realized that infantry counter tanks and tanks counter machine gun nests. That's how I play...rarely ever did I put my Shermans against a Stug because I had AT guns, and I'd shoot down a garrisoned building, then run in with a rifle squad and sticky bomb the Stug.

I swear get the game now if it'll run on your computer or you'll die a lonely man. This game is sexcellent. Words cannot express how much fun I have with it.

Shermans are pretty terrible against the Axis armor until you upgrade the guns. You really have to micromanage them and use their speed if you want to win against even a Stug.

Bought the Collectors Edition at launch. The games awesome, I wouldnt really recomend the CE though, unless you want it just for the metal case. The goodies suck.

That's because you don't play online.

Any decent axis player will tear your Sherman's to shred if you don't support them and micromanage. An unupgraded Sherman will lose to a Stug if you just let them duke it out (and the Stug costs a lot less).

No. I don't play online. I haven't finished SP because it's taking me 2 nights per level.
