I'd like to take a crack at it if a keyboard with rearrangeable keys comes into my possession sometime in the future. Perhaps one of those OLED driven keyboards like the Optimus, if it ever reaches mass production and affordable prices.
Dvorak is a much better layout, but given that my hands stretch easily over the entire keyboard and my high dexterity and speed with my hands as it is, there is little practical benefit. I can type for hours with QWERTY without feeling any negative effects.
Just another thing that comes to mind...I used a natural keyboard for an extended period of time years ago, and I grew to liking it. But since then I've only used standard keyboards. I noticed a while ago that my hands are not rigidely straight in the standard keyboard position. My wrists are bent just like with a natural keyboard. Over time my hands moved apart into a more comfortable position, and the muscle memory of my fingers adjusted to the new angle. So I type at about 100 WPM on a regular, non-ergonomic keyboard in an ergonomic position. Just something interesting that I noticed. Anyone else find themselves in a similar position?
That said, modern ergonomic keyboards really are nice for extended use. Microsoft makes some nice ones. Unfortunately my hands have already adopted to this style, and since I never typed "properly" to begin with, I often find my right (dominant) hand reaching over to the side left of the split on such keyboards.
