you can set it to keep numerous file extensions, but right now i only have program shortcuts in there.

Its really fast too:

Hit alt+spacebar and it brings up the dialog box. start typing the program you want and almost instantly it pops up.

Google Desktop Search does this, <3.

This thing is more lightweight, and it looks much nicer too. I'll stick with GDS for now, if only because it already has the functionality.

yea i knew google had that, but i never really liked google desktop, too much bloat i thought.

Plus, alt+spacebar is easier to hit

Main reason I use GDS is because I like the sidebar. It has the functionality I want (unfortunately it's not skinnable unless you crack open a DLL with Resource Hacker).

Another reason why I probably wouldn't use Launchy is because I already don't use the feature I took a screenshot of. :)

I gotta wonder why they chose ALT+SPACEBAR... it's already a used and reserved shortcut key. Although GDS' CTRL CTRL sometimes sucks when I'm playing some game that uses CTRL as a key and I keep pressing it and the stupid thing pops up.

They both suck. Vista has this.

Hit the windows key and start typing. Hit enter and don't even wait for results. Bam.

Sorry, but it's something I actually DO like Vista for, so I thought I'd give a shoutout for once >.>

It's more like Quicksilver than spotlight if you're using it as a launcher :P

Oh so it's just an indexer.

I already use google desktop.

Oh, you mean the same feature that was in OSX 1 year ago.

Which Microsoft announced as a longhorn feature years before OSX. :v:

And unlike Spotlight, Vista's search is all over the place, in damn near every window and box where it could apply.

Spotlight is. It's in every window of finder - in your email and all over the shop.

And it's on command obviously

Good point well made :P

Although help is rubbish on OSX, and finder is nothing compared to explorer (or 2xExlporer which is awesome).

I like it, but I have all my most commonly used applications up in ObjectDock anyways, so I don't imagine that I'll use it much.
