It's pretty fun. I haven't played it against anyone yet.

-I should mention, I just barely avoided quoting Wargames in this second post.

Looks neat.

'Launch detected' also throws me flashbacks of 'Nuclear launch detected' from Red Alert so it's a good thing.

In other words, no.
Am I the only one that saw that movie?
hmm, i vaguely remember some 80s movie where the us government created some high tech computer to control its nukes, and then it went all haywire and almost nuked russia or something. in the end, a genius kid saves the world from nuclear warfare by playing a game similar to this def con game with the high tech computer.

hmm, need to figure out the name of the movie.

Yeah, I saw that movie.

then the kid taught the computer that global thermonuclear war is just like tic-tac-toe. no one wins.

(unless the other side isn't paying attention ;))

IT'S NOT FRELLING CYAN.
IT'S DEEP SKY BLUE.
:(
I didn't pirate it, I played a friend's copy. I dunno how he got it, probably he pirated it. Boy it's fun, though.

-And if you haven't seen Wargames, you really need to. Am I right? I am.

Pre-ordered it this evening. Was playing Uplink earlier, one of their other works, and I have Darwinia tucked away somewhere also. A very good development studio. I'm sure DEFCON will be excellent, but I'll know for sure tomorrow!

I liked Darwinia. Maybe I'll get this too when I have some of what you call mo-ney.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

Brilliant gaffe on the website. Release is set for GMT 6:00, except we're in GMT +1 at the moment so we actually get it at 7:00 in London.

D'oh. Another 16 minutes to wait! :D

Played the demo, it seems pretty fun. I may get it if Introversion does a special pack on Steam with Defcon, Darwinia, and any oter games they make and want to include.

A classic dumbass defense.

Dumbpirate: Hey look at this game that isn't out yet! I have the full version, WEEEE!

Rationalhuman: Uhhmm, you pirated that.

DumbPirate: No..! It belongs. to a friend! Yeah! A friend he gave it to me! He's the pirate! And that somehow makes the illegal software that I have legal because I wasn't the one who stole it!

I don't *have* his copy, I *played* his copy.

So instead of telling your girlfriend she doesn't look fat, you ought to go down to the seven eleven and swipe a few candybars, amirite?

Getting back on track...

DEFCON is brilliant, I'm really enjoying it, even though the AI is routinely pwning me.

The AI kicks my *** constantly. I haven't got vert good at scanning their area for stuff, so my nukes are getting shot down by invisible planes and turrets constantly.

Fighters are your friend. Forget using them in an anti-air role. Send 'em out over the enemy, doesn't matter if they get owned.

Is it just me, or is deploying ICBMs against enemy fleets... a bad idea?

-By the way... I lied about reading it in a book. I read it on the internet. I should have stolen instead of lying.
