Before I get the explanation out of the way, I figure I'll give this disclaimer: If you don't like anime, there's a high chance you won't want to visit, unless you feel like helping anyway (grammar, artwork, templates, such stuff that Wikipedia has that this Wiki will also need). That's fine. But I wanna keep this thread to those who DO watch it, and want to learn more. Thanks

As quoted from the about page: "Understanding Anime is a publicly maintained Wiki, containing articles on many different times of Anime (Japanese Animation). The general function of this Wiki is to make the more complex and confusing storylines found in anime more... understandable."
All this boils down to is a Wiki featuring explanations, discussions and research into the complex plots and themes that many animes have (Neon Genesis Evangelion, FLCL, Spiral, etc).
This includes a great deal of anime, and doesn't necessarily mean "boring" or "serious" anime only. A great example is FLCL, which while being incredibly funny, also serves as a coming-of-age story, and contains lots of pop-culture references.
An article on FLCL would detail such references. It would also show events that cause this coming-of-age, and maybe even just what makes it funny.
More or less, it's an entertaining and informative Wiki that people use to analyze and understand better everything the anime intended, and more.

So anyway, as with any Wiki, this one needs content. Lots of it. I've attempted at filling as much space as I could before opening it to the public, but there is still a LOT of work to be done.
This Wiki is 100% public, just like Wikipedia, you do not need to register to edit pages. It would help you in the long run to keep track of your work, and you do have more options available to you if you do register, but it is not required.
But as of right now, the Wiki needs the following:
1. Pages. We need content, even snippit summaries of well-known anime will do. Whatever you feel capable or comfortable with writing.
2. Templates. I have been "ripping" some templates and modifying them for UA's scheme. But there are a metric ton more that can be made. If you like coding and aren't necessarily a fan of anime, you might be more interested in this.
3. Artwork. Lots of templates are going to need little buttons, icons, and other things. I am also looking for a better logo image for UA, the current one is mostly a placeholder. It doesn't need to be specifically "anime style" as long as it looks good and has the title.
Later on, we'll also need organization efforts, like the Community Portal and categories. If you really like that stuff, you can go start on that, but the things above are of a higher priority at the moment.
So anyway, if anyone wants to help, jump on in. If not, that's fine. I would like to see the site at least somewhat succeed (I will be posting this at major anime sites I visit also), but if it fails, I'll suck it up. :p Anyway, I need to get back to working on my Ergo Proxy page, since I've set that as the standard for other pages to follow . Thanks, and I hope you all have fun working on it.
Edit: Oh, and feel free to throw this link around to your anime friends, this is definately not just a Massassian-only affair.
