Does it qualify as teen angst if...

You think the majority of your family is ****ing useless (I still respect my dad), that your teachers a a bunch of dumbasses, and that you're more intelligent than most everyone else you know your age, even if you're completely 100% aware of these feelings, and they're just coming natural to you?

Just wondering.

The fact that you think you are smarter than everyone around you is a sign of being a teenager. You'll grow out of it.

There can only be one person who's smarter than their peers. You're average. Get over it.

Unless you're me, and you are not only smarter than all your peers, but you can also prove it.

Or at least I was. God I was legendary in highschool and now I'm in the bottom half of a class populated almost entirely by asian super geniuses. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Yeah, well, there's no way to measure intelligence, so it doesn't really matter anyway.

Eaxactly. You're not smarter than everyone else. You're just not smart enough to realize it yet.

There are, however, THOSE kinds of people.

Aye. It seems that way at times, trust me, but eventually you learn everyone has their own areas of expertise. While some may be utterly idiotic when it comes to math, they can be geniuses in history. Etc etc.

Yeah, I figured you kind of felt that way. Most teens do. It usually starts with the whole trying to act more mature than older people to impress everyone bit. You still do that part though. I'm not trying to put you down, most people do this stuff when they are younger. I even did that a few years ago. What sucks the most is that you really can't win until you just grow out of it. You can argue that you aren't acting mature, and that you really are, but it's a filthy lie until you actually act mature without meaning to do it, and you stop actually telling people how mature you are. Not just you, I mean young kids in general.

I suck at explaining things, so I must sound like a jerk, but I'm not trying to be. I remember when I was around 12 or 13 on the forums and I'd try to post all these mature things because everyone else was 5 years older than me, and I'd almost never make a joke or anything. Then every once and a while I'd act like myself and I'd make that stupid joke and then everyone would point out 'You acted so mature, but we know your just trying because *points to stupid joke*'. This sounds stupid, but if you are a naturally goofy kid, just act goofy. By being yourself you seem more mature even if you're acting less mature. (I know it doesn't seem like it makes sense, but it does in my head >.<)

As for your parents being morons...It gets to the point where you realize your parents are most likely right but you still want to do stuff against what they say anyway. That's the step after 'My parents are dumb', it's 'My parents might not be dumb, but just incase...' which will soon turn into 'Damn...who would have thought my parents were right?' Even though it is possible that a teenager could be smarter than their parents, it usually isn't the case. For example, I always bust up my mom because she always uses words incorrectly...and then I realize that she has her masters in math and science and I skip by math class with C's >.<

I'm pretty sure I took this silly thread too serious, but meh. Oh well.

I quite trying to be mature, or to put it more correctly, tyring to fit in. I try to be as nice as a I can, so honestly, if people don't like me the way I am, they can go play with their stupid borg friends if they like. So far it works out great. I'm weird, but in a totally unique way. Which is nice, because I like variety, even if it has to come from me.

Real life me is a lot different from the internet me.

Ah, ok. And I get what you're saying, but I've really grown to be more mature. It's great that I've grown...I don't know, less mature though? I've grown up in the past year definitely, most forum members who remember me from a year ago could tell you that. But like I said, I've recently, as has been said, grown up a hell of a lot, but around friends I retain that maturity it's just shown in a different light-- I'm not so verbal with it, but it's there.

In many ways I was smarter than most of my peers, like 33rd in my class of three or four hundred, but I still wasn't experienced. You may be smarter than others but chances are you aren't wise enough to realize that you're not THAT much smarter.

Hey, a lot of teachers are really smart, exciting people!

However, it isn't like everyone will end up smarter than you. The vast majority remains dumb.

Unless you are part of the vast majority.
