This is around the beginning of application to college (university) season, so post plans/frustrations/agonies/etc.

I personally am stuck on procrastinating on schoolwork, which means procrastinating on procrastinating on doing my applications. So I'm slowly lowering myself into the pit of screwdom.

I realize this excludes everyone except like ... 5 people, so for people who aren't high school seniors, post about your experience in applying to college/uni etc. especially things about how stupid it was now that you look back on it and that you stressed for nothing. Or funny anecdotes.

Or if you're Zloc, post about how you don't have to worry about anything right now.

And then I'll dig this thread up next May and post up results haha

I applied to 5 UCs so that was a 5-1 one special on the application, and one CSU, so I only had to fill out 2 applications. It took me about an hour. Just sit down and get it done.

I applied to one school, about as stress-free and nonchalante as possible. I got in, but didn't care either way.

Appling to just one school doesn't seem like a great idea.

It's what I did. Applied early, saved a lot of money on application fees and a lot of time on filling them out. Knew where I wanted to go, applied to the best school I wanted to go to first, got in, currently go there, and don't regret it one bit.

But would it seem like good idea of applying to one school but not early?

Anyway, I already did the application process last year. But I had 4 schools on my list.

Meh. I'm sitting the SATs on the 14th but have no set-in-stone plans to even go to college yet. I'd like to know where I stand though.

Unless you're guaranteed a spot, that's not really a great idea.

He probably did Early Decision, where you apply early to that school, and you are bound to not apply to any other school unless you are rejected, in which case you can apply to others.

They give you the decision in like.. november or december, so you still have plenty of time to apply elsewhere.

Also, under Early Decision, if you are accepted you have to go.
Under "Early Action" you also get a decision in December but you do not have to go abd can apply to other places after you are accepted, abd have until May to reply.

It doesn't keep you from applying to other schools. It just means you have to accept if they take you early.

It prevents you from applying to other schools early.

When I finish this Finnish high school, I just as well might try applying to some University (if my sibling's luck follows me, that will end up in vain) and if that doesn't work out... dunno.

I still have to initiate Masterplan and avoid going to the army, though.

Already there. UCAS sucks.
Hey, Blue? I'm loving the things you do. From the very first time, the fight you fight for will always be mine.

I'm only applying to BYU-Provo. I pretty much have to go. (Which means my parents will pay for BYU and nowhere else :P) Thankfully the application process is really easy and it's rolling admission so I can know if I get in really early.

First early decision period, you're notified before your fall semester of your senior year ends. Still gives you time to apply to other places if you're not accepted, but if you're certain there's no chance in getting shot down, why worry?

UCAS does indeed suck.

I'm in the process of beginning my personal statement, while trying to deceide on what courses to go with still. :P

It looks like it's going to be mechanical engineering or architecture. But Both film and music have a good chance too. :v:

I'm at WKU.
I applied only to WKU.
There was no early applying thing or limit on applying elsewhere.
I only wanted to apply to WKU.
I'm in my 6th year at WKU.
I like WKU.

I'm applying to U of Michigan, RIT, MIT, and U of Illinois.

My highschool being an extremely college-prep school, each student is assigned a college counselor whose sole job is to keep track of and advise us in the college process. The problem is, they create fake deadlines for us on apps. So a bunch of kids ended up writing crappy essays and screwing up apps for U of Michigan (which is an arduous 10 pages), and were very unhappy to hear that there was absolutely no penalty for turning it in after the "deadline." My essays were fine, but it would have been nice to have slept that night.

Few nights ago I had about 3 hours of homework, but then again an 8th grader's version of 3 hours of homework and a highschool student's 3 hours of homework are different things...

Generally though, only thing I have to worry about is Algebra I because I like to maintain straight A's, and Algebra I could kill me there.

I posted this on the other thread but I have like 4-6 hrs of hw a day and usually sleep around 3 AM. ugh

Oh yeah, and I have ~9 schools (but 6 apps cuz 3 are UCs) on my list, which is about the average at my school, but hopefully I'll get into my early and not have to send any of them.

Let's see....11:00 - 6:45 is 7 hours 45 minutes, so make that when I'm running on less than 7 1/2 hours (IE: been staying up late all weekend and can't fall asleep sunday night) a night makes for an unhappy Zloc

I, too, am a high school senior. However, my application process has been quite different from yours. I'm all submitted for my three schools (Penn State U, Purdue U, UW-Madison) :). Just waiting acceptance. I only applied to three because during my visit to Penn State, the lady who would be in charge of admitting me guaranteed admission, so I'm not worried about not getting accepted. I'm pretty much the only person in my grade who has everything finished regarding it. Plus my senior year grades have been awesome.

Obi's a Junior I think, but he's homeschooled anyway.

What about Delphian? Isn't he a senior (wherever he is)?

Heh, which UC's?
2006-10-05, 10:10 PM #29
I'm a senior.

I still need to take the SATs... and I haven't applied to any colleges yet. I have one very small specialized school in mind, and if they end up not accepting me I'll probably end up having a ruined life.
2006-10-05, 10:23 PM #30
I applied to seven schools, procrastinated forever on the applications too. I don't recommend it. Trying to get all those aps in before the deadline was hugely stressful, and I suspect that the primary reason I was wait-listed at three of those schools was that I got them in so close to the end of the application period.

I can't complain too much, though. I got into Northwestern, I'm in my third year and I still love it here.
