I think you should do what you can to keep others from drunk driving but your friend is really extreme. Especially his four hours rule. I've seen it often enough that people drink so much that even four hours aren't enough.

But I think you've prepared everything you can. You've got enough room for people to sleep, you've got your school's program, you've got at least one friend offering to drive (even though he takes it a bit far) and if all that isn't enough you guys can probably also call a taxi.

True enough. Three beers over three hours, with none after the halfway point, would leave most people able to drive, I suppose. I was under the mistaken impression that his friend had left shortly after the third beer. Nothing in Wolfy's post supported that, just a misunderstanding on my part.

Personally, I'd avoid driving no matter how little alcohol I'd had, and would advise my friends to do the same. I think it's best not to take the chance, but in marginal cases like this I won't criticize too harshly.
If you think the waiters are rude, you should see the manager.
