A bomb threat was recently found at my school, and I'm scared. Nobody knows if it is real or fake, but the police and media are really getting involved.

We are allowed to stay home if we want but I think I might go. What are your opinions?

Chance to stay home from school? No-brainer for me..but I'm not overly fond of school either. :P

If you can miss a day, do it. Everyone else will, too. You'll show up with only a few students and then the day will be a waste and you'll wonder why you ever bothered to show up.

There was a bomb threat at my school as well. No bomb was found, but I guess my classmates got a day off. I was sick that day, so I'm glad I didn't walk all the way up just to walk all the way back down.

Up here when there's a bomb threat, the schools are locked down. You get to choose whether or not to go? That's interesting.

Chances are, if people were warned that a bomb might explode, there is not a motive to actually kill anyone, they just want chaos. It's when you fall into comfortable daily habbits that you need to worry about dying from a psychopath's wrath.

free day off, for my vote

though, there seems to be a plague of school-threats these few weeks. even my old highschool had a 'threating email' threat the other day, hoax'd, but still

why are kids so stupid to do this?

Because they're dumb lazy bastards who don't care?

I seriously don't know, and this is one reason I'm a bit afraid to go to highschool. The want outweighs the fear though.
I had a blog. It sucked.

No, you won't get hurt, no, there won't be a bomb, no, you shouldn't go to school

When I was in highschool some kid called in a bomb threat cause he didn't want to write an exam, he got caught. The class was civics, which is a half-credit everyone is required to take, a monkey could pass it after being hit in the head with a hammer.

The only road leading to the school was blocked off at both ends by police cars and fire trucks, everyone was herded outside while the firemen checked the school (nobody allowed to leave, and like I said, roads were blocked). Once they cleared the gym they brought us all in there while they checked the rest of the school (which was stupid in our opinion, but whatever). The whole thing took about half a day. They caught the kid, I think I heard he was either suspended or expelled and had like a $10,000 fine. He was in 10th grade, so I guess he was 15-16.

my school was set on fire the year before i joined massassi. the saint patrick's day fire of 1999. *sniff*

it happened in the middle of 3rd period, roughly noonish, i'd say. its cool to see 30' flames leaping out of the top of your school.

The bathroom in one of the "main" halls in my highschool is the subject of threatening graffiti nearly every year, which always prompts the school to make the next day (or specified day) of school "optional" for those that "feel scarerd". Naturally, about 1/3 of the kids take advantage of the opportunity to skip without reprimand. One year the message was "if you thought columbine was bad, just wait until 4/20/01". Like aglar said, it's always some moron who is trying to buy extra time for an assignment, or just wants to unofficially cancel school.

Bomb alarms are silly, but don't go to school either way. On general principle.

No, see, the bombs are actually in all the students' houses! The bomb threat was a tool to get them to stay home! You will only be safe if you go to school!

What's the big deal? We're all gonna die anyway. Does it really matter when it happens?

The chance there actually would be a bomb is very remote like has been said numerous times, but what if there actually was, and it exploded, and you were just sitting at home and missed seeing your school blow up? You would regret it for the rest of your life.

Well, I'm a person who has cycled halfway across the town in the middle of the night to watch an old building burn (although I wasn't nearly the only one to do it), so perhaps my advice is biased.

Fear is a tool, and this person's weapon of choice aparrently: He wouldn't have written a note unless he wanted to induce fear, get the day off of school, or brag about it to his friends. Parents, teachers, and the Media are likely all paranoid, so the smart people are going "But there's NO reason for someone to admit to pre-meditating a bomb?"

Of course, better safe than sorry is likely the school's lawyers' opinion.

This man speaks truth. Watching my school burn down and explode when the fire got to the science lab was the most fun thing ever.
