Hi,

Is there anyone reading this who used to play JK DFII Trial Verson on MSN Zone, during the late nineties i.e circa 1997-2000?

I did too, it was what introducted me to the Jedi Knight series of games, the demo... I actually played though the demo hundreds of time with various of cheats, and other mods. You can't mod the level in the demo because most editor if they didn't detect a full install would fail, but you still could edit the weapons, and Cog so i had a good time editing those, coming up with the strangest weapons and so forth.

Eventually I did buy the game in full.

I played through the demo plenty, but I didn't know about the Internet Gaming Zone (wasn't MSN back then) until after I got the full game. I especially enjoyed shooting the ugnaut with the rail detonator's secondary fire.

It was all I had for quite awhile and then I found the JK/MOTS combo for a really good price.

I started playing with the full version, but I had the demo version installed as well, for those days when I was feeling Emo and wanted to take out my aggression on newbies via the sector thrust switch.

Not the trial version, but I did play the full version back in 1999 and 2000. Same name as always, though I went by others too.

Yes - I posted it in the wrong place apparently! Got a better response here anyway! :)

Moving on a bit, does anyone remember the clans which populated the Trial Version e.g FIA etc ?

I played under a whole host of names varying from Heartless_Angel, Kck_HOMER, HcK_Homer to PRINCE_Vincent.

I'm just reminiscing really, sat here in my office on a rainy day in the heart of England.

Possibly. I used to play as Heartless_Angel in Saber only games. I joined other clans as various names to protect the name and rep. I think I might have joined JoI for a short while.

I had an ongoing rivalry with a clan by the name of Massive Retaliation, or MR_ for short.

I think we've had a few games! The name rings a bell, Paladin. Did you used to like building ramps and platforms off of the bottom deck of the Trial level (the bit that's outside, with the thin platform and lifts at either end) ?

I used to play the 3 level trial for Dark Forces that came with some pack that included X Wing, TIE Fighter, Rebel Assault, and some "Making of the Magic" CD or something like that.

Many years later I played the JK trial version. Months and months of battling on the Bespin level. Then I got the real version and discovored build hacks. I played normally, but if there was ever a server admin who was a dick or the least bit disrespectful to me I let him have it....relentlessly. I used to make my name ||IIllllIIII|||||IIIIIIlllll and whatnot so he couldnt kick me. Lol.

I definately remember you! I played in a few of the games where you had that really long weird name!

How did you do that? I tried a few times to create a player profile with that name (copying you basically) but it would never accept a name with those characters in it?

Haha...tons of people did that. Its just a bunch of "I"s and "L"s and whatever those bars above the enter key are called.
