If you know of any other famous arachnids, let me now and I'll put them on the list.

I hear of Anansi a lot in African myths. Also is Peter Parker considered partially arachnid due to his mutation?

Ooh, anansi. I'm not sure Peter Parker counts because he's mostly human, and his spider bits aren't even real spider.

I wonder if Anansi counts because he's mostly a god. I'll add him anyway.

Because it's a name, Charlotte initially wins. However, if her story is specified, Charlotte doesn't stand a chance.

Never heard of Anansi. I've heard of Shelob, but without googling, I can't recall why.

So to me it would be Charlotte.

Oh, and for the google fight, try spelling it Charlottes Web instead of Charlotte's, Charlotte kicks the crap out of Shelob then

I'd go with Arachne from Greek mythology.

And that's if you use the book name. It's even better if you do just Charlotte v Shelob

As Shelob is the only one I know she's got to be the most famous.

I just remembered Aragog from Harry Potter.
Sorry for the lousy German

I always thought that itsy bitsy (or incy wincy) were adjectives, not the name of the spider.

"The itsy bitsy spider...."

But yes, the no-name spider is the most famous.

It was actually in Two Towers (if going by books). Although now that I think about it, I think it was in the movie too (TTT)

What about the time he turned into the Man-Spider? Does Man-Spider Spiderman count?
