Now with an incredibly creepy YouTube video

"OR they can overlap like a SWARM OF BEES"

Seriously, I know it has its advantages or whatever, but whoever directed the ad for it made it really poorly... and was obsessed with 3d.

That's kind of scary.

What made it worse was the narrator sounded like something off a movie in the 80s about some Post-apocolyptic world.
nope.

I heard about this thing a long time ago, with the real video. Although this 3D thing is new :P

A metal storm handgun would be pretty tacticool. Probably b& in California though.
VTEC just kicked in, yo!

Yeah, at the time only knew of the pod setup. A handgun version would probably be like a paintball pistol, removing the entire barrel as the "clip"

I think the aircraft example was incredibly bad. Metal storm requires a fly-over, which may cause the pilot to come in contact with SAMs. Smart bombs and missles can be dropped/fired from miles away, thus decreasing the risk to the pilot. Metal storm loses.

However, in the pod, handgun, and probably on attack/transport helicopters to replace the miniguns, Metal Storm would probably be pretty useful.

Just wait for the first error in the firing system where the last bullet's propellant gets ignited first. =D

That seems like it would be great to use as an anti-missle system on a boat or a plane, or to protect a base. If you had turrets that used those when detecting an incoming missle threat, it would shower it in bullets and destroy it in-flight, as opposed to intercepting it with another missle.

Likewise.

This video seemed too long and a repetetive. Metal storm also doesn't seem to be able to hold a lot of ammo for an extended period of time, and they acted like it was so cool because it didn't use magazines, but their system seems more impractical than using a magazine.

Think while it's still legal.

From a design students standpoint, it wasnt. The information wasnt exactly clear, and it really didnt nede to be that long with all of the information taht they did display.
