I just finished watching all of those videos, and it just made me want a Wii that much more. November 19 can't come fast enough.
2006-10-12, 10:20 AM #4
Wow, this really could be a revolution in gaming.
2006-10-12, 11:02 AM #5
That old guy bowling is so cute. :D

Does the Wii come with a cute old person that does tricks like that?

Reports say you can configure it down to just wrist motion if you want. Might help you.

Or you can suck it up and play SSB:B continuously :p

That's really neat. Would make me want to buy a Wii, for sure.

Only problem I see with this is, is that a lot of people (not just americans) are lazy. I know that I for one, like to relax while playing my video games. After a long day of school, or coming home from work, I don't want to be standing up flailing my arms about to play video games. I prefer reclining in a comfy chair, and barely having to move my body at all. I know that in some cases it could be really fun, but to me it really seems like too much work. I mean after all, I think it's kind of silly to be playing golf that's virtual, yet acting it out. I mean, if you're going to do that, then why not just actually *go* play golf.

Does anyone else feel this way also?

I'm sure there will be plenty of games that will be conventional as well. Is it really an issue, I guess? It will allow a deeper experience for those who wish. Also, DDR is fairly popular, and it requires movement. Light gun games have been around forever. This isn't completely novel, and not every game will take advantage of it.

I still think that people aren't paying enough attention to this thing's application to FPS titles. I think, that for all that we play America's Army, we know the DoD's original version involved using a a laser-gun mock-up of the various weapons.

Now, the Wii-mote isn't exactly a complete simulator for, say, an M-4, but it would work in a pinch. I've still got my fingers crossed to see if Crytec and Infinity Ward have gotten the clue about it for their Wii ports of Call of Duty 3 and Far Cry: Vengeance. (the two FPS titles scheduled for the Wii's launch window right now)

No, we get it, but you forget that there's no good ones scheduled. As of yet we just have Red Steel, which has gotten iffy previews at best, and a couple other ideas, but nothing set in stone.

And if you are a golf player.. and you play Wii golf.. doing it virtually could make you develope bad habits when you really go out and play golf.

I wasn't referring to the people on the forums when I said "people..." Sorry, but I didn't mean "Massassians" by "people." :P

What I was trying to get at were the developers are various companies. Hence the lack of good ones scheduled. Heck, if Nintendo hadn't been fool enough to hand Rare off to Microsoft, (just LOOK what they did for Perfect Dark Zero) we would've been in for some REAL treats here... After all, pretty much the only thing the original Perfect Dark could possibly have been considered to lack was online multiplayer.

But you can watch the video of the asian girl in the green top and blue jeans playing tenis. Somehow that just seems like more fun anyways.

I'd feel like a right tool acting out all that in my living room just to play a video game. Xbox 360 for me.
DO NOT WANT.

Psst... You need to be wearing Star Wars (or whatever) pajamas for it to feel right. Especially for the sword/lightsaber games.

The Wii looks amazing. I'm glad I work at Target. A friend of mine in the electronics department said that he would set aside a console for me. That and a 10% discount guarantee me a Wii on launch day.
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

I think that this isn't for every gamer. I don't think that's the point. People WILL buy the wii. Some people won't because of their dignity, or whatever.

The only reason I want one is for the Zelda game.. and the ability to play old classics without having to worry about the quality of a rom or emulator.

My hands shake a lot, and sometimes borderline violently. I'm afraid of the Wii because I don't think I'll be able to aim the little pointer device.

My big clunky PC keyboard helps me steady my hands a lot.

Your discount works on consoles? At Toys R Us, our 10% Employee discount doesn't work for consoles...

Also, Toys R Us is taking Wii preorders Oct 25th, I believe.

Bestbuy gets crap discounts on consoles, mostly because the stores don't make much money on them to start with.

Same thing with new games. You can get maybe $5 off a game, that's it. If it's old though, you can sometimes get a larger savings.
