Art-photography community?
2006-10-19, 3:24 AM #1
Does anyone know of a website/community that discusses, reviews, lives and breathes photography? (as an art form, not as a commercial industry). I'm thinking about something along the lines of ConceptArt.org only with photography.

My girlfriend is a photographer and she's suffering from artistic block and complete lack of faith in her work so I'd like to get her involved in a online community where she can get feedback and support.

deviantART.

DeviantART is good, but also large. And as a large community, it is filled with idiots. Don't let that discourage you. Any large community has idiots.

http://www.photo.net

news, reviews, forums, and tutorials. what more could you need?

we've got a couple decent photographers here at massassi, myself included. if she showcases her work here, there's at least a few of us who know what we're talking about. i.e. MurcXIII, Me, Jedikirby, and Cazor.

there are a couple others, but those are the people who's work i see most often.

It also has dAmn, similar to IRC, which has several rooms focused on photography. Most of which are visited (even founded) by professional photographers, who are often willing to help.

Most idiots don't take the time to talk about art you have made. Only people that care about that peice or the artist do.

Unlike Massassi.

Thanks for the responses. I know deviantArt but it's a little overwhelmingly diverse. Photo.net looks interesting though, it might be a good place to start. The quality of the work in the Critiques forum seems high.
