Why does it glorify the "1000 rounds per minute" when its only a machine pistol and thus is inaccurate and probably has a small clip?
2006-10-19, 3:41 PM #5
Because it's the media.

... Focusing on the fact that it fires 1000 rounds is not a commentary of the capabilities of the weapon. It's to show the severety of the weapon...

Last year it was 14 years-old girls being involved with my roommate. Some time ago a 14 years-old girl threatened George Bush on her Myspace and now we have this. Just what is going on with these 14 years-old girls?
2006-10-19, 4:37 PM #9
Yes. Eveyone in the US has machine pistols. Hell, I used to got to middle school strapped and run with a gang because I'm from Oakland.

Just because you live in America's northern clone doesn't give you the right to call us burgerboys.

And you're not funny. I realize I'm not funny.

Unless you were serious...no we don't. We have relatively brutal gun laws, atleast in Illinois.

It's a "MAC-10", not a mach 10. It's made by Ingram (or at least invented by) and it's what most of the gangsters use around here (Los Angeles). apparently, they're not too difficult to come by, if you are not too interesting in legality.
2006-10-19, 7:46 PM #15
Sweet, you get me one and I'll come pick it up. I've always wanted a MAC-10.

I think mac-10's go for about 50$ on the street in Jackson, MS. Probably because they are total crap. Give me a good M1911 any day.
2006-10-19, 8:38 PM #19
Erm, MAC-10's are .45 or 9mm. If it's a .45, then it's effectively a full-auto M1911 except slightly lower less quality.

But in the hands of a ho-slappin' brotha lovin' whitey hatin' gangsta from da hood, I guess that doesn't really matter much.

With a mac-10 you use the spray-and-pray shooting technique.

Obviously, after reading the entire article.

But I'd like to see a picture of this uber-silencer where supposedly the bolt is then louder than the actual shot.

Quote:
Probably the biggest reason for the original M-10 finding recognition was its revolutionary sound suppressor designed by Mitchell WerBell III (Sionics). This suppressor had a 2 stage design, with the first stage being larger then the second. This uniquely shaped suppressor gave the M-10 a very menacing look. It was also very quiet, to the point of where the bolt could be heard over the report of the weapons discharge. The suppressor also created a place to hold the weapon; this, combined with the weight it added, made the weapon easier to control. The weapon's barrel threads were originally intended for this suppressor, but many other attachments are used: compensators, barrel extensions, fake-suppressors, fore grips, and so on.

The MAC-10 fires 9mm rounds in a full automation, and while a semi-auto pistol has its uses and may be more versatile, in a close-quarters room with more than one combatant where you want to make sure someone's dead, I would take a MAC-10 over a 9mm pistol any day. Pump a few rounds from a 9mm pistol in someone and they'll go down. Pump twenty-plus rounds in them in a heartbeat with a MAC-10 and they won't be getting back up. (Unless, possibly, they're 50 cent.)
Cordially,

I dunno about you Gris, but I'd be willing to put out the extra $50 for the .45 ACP version over the 9mm version.

And thanks for the picture.

Do the words, "completely uncontrollable" mean anything to you? Unless you just want to walk inot a crowd and mow people down from 5 feet away, it'll be pretty useless.

On the other hand that sound supressor looks pretty cool. I think with that it'd probably be a lot more useful. Too bad it's 9mm.
2006-10-20, 5:43 PM #26
And if you're in a room with someone, I think I'd prefer the MAC-10.

It's circumstantial, at best. If I'm outside and further and 15 yards from someone, I'd take the M1911 as well. But in a room or in an alley, or like you said walking into a crowd of people, MAC-10, naturally.

And does the MAC-10 have a rate-of-fire switch? If so, then it becomes (more than) slightly more controllable, even if the gun itsself is cheaply made.

So I had a dream last night Kirby went on a shooting spree in a mall with a wheelchair mowing people down with a MAC-10. :gbk: I need some more sleep.

How often, though, would you need to mow bunches of people down? Besides, the gun is too big to conceal on one's person. I could see having it in the trunk or something, but you'd be able to have the 1911 on you at all times. Also, I can't see the M10 being very accurate in single shot mode.
2006-10-21, 9:53 AM #31
True. I don't know how large it is, so concealment is an issue as you said. But I was talking about how controllable it would be in single shot as opposed to 1000 rounds/minute. If you'd used it and trained with it a bit, it would probably be more accurate because of your ability.

And some people carry backpacks. Granted, you'd still have to unzip it and pull it out and whatnot, but that still beats a trunk.
I had a blog. It sucked.

If you want a machine pistol that you can conceal, go with the Micro-Uzi
